Lamborghini claims eight Performante lap records
With new Ferrari on the horizon, Lamborghini reminds us just what the Performante has achieved
As a reminder that the Performante is still pretty special, Lambo has today announced that the Huracan now holds eight lap records across the globe. These have been achieved during various road tests with the world's motoring media, including our colleagues at Autocar. Lamborghini has issued the times as "proof of its exceptional performance features".
How long these lap records remain after the Pista's arrival is what we're all waiting on with baited breath come the spring, although it should be noted that the Performante has claimed some notable scalps so far. So nothing is confirmed just yet. As for the car itself, Lamborghini is promising "a new dimension" will be added to the Performante at Geneva, so we'll leave that guesswork to you. Ferrari isn't going to have things all its own way!
Performante is considered better than a 458 Speciale according to some Youtube Ferrari fanboys
488 Pista ke may be ultimately quicker but meh to turbocharging and you cant even get one unless you are a A lister.
Serial Ferrari owners are well pista off that they don't even qualify
Long live the V10 Naturally Aspirated Engine, long Reign the Lamborghini Huracan Performante
Let’s have a customer car around Silverstone, Monza, Spa etc.
They’ve had plenty of time to do it. I wonder why not?
Where is the 'Ring time? And indeed, Monza, Silverstone, Spa, Mugello, Hockenheim (maybe get cheeky and ask the red brigade for the keys to Fiorano for the afternoon)
That said, it is a properly exciting car, If i'd want (and could afford) a properly insane car to hoon about in on tracks, i'd have this no questions asked.
Anyway it’s interesting that they only highlight this particular performance metric as the car has not managed to win any if I am not mistaken, of the many group tests that the magazines and other media have run, usually being bested by the McLaren 720s or the Porsche GT3.
Being great at just one thing does not make a great road car, especially when your one performance advantage is very unlikely to be exploited by the vast number of owners.
As has been said, expect Yipper to be along soon once he has extracted himself from his tissue box to proclaim that this is absolute proof that the Lambo is the best car ever. He is about as credible as a Flatearther

It's a very capable car, can show a LaFerrari a thing or two on track the entry speeds it can achieve are madness.

What is more curious is why SportAuto have not had a ring time for the car. The performante was very quick it has to be said around their other tested track (Hockenheim short) to be fair, if almost 2 seconds slower than the gt2rs iirc.

I've never been one for lap times and ultimate speed and where the Lamborghini Huracan Performante wins the most versus the competition whether it be GT3RS, Pista KE, McLaren 720S is the FUN factor.
No one does theatre and drama like a Lambo, feels and sounds fast at 30 mph - smiles per miles its the very best out there PERIOD, GAME OVER
Today I got the lap record for running around my garden.
Better prepare the press release.
(NB. Before I’m publically flogged, I’m not knocking the car, which is pretty special by all accounts, just the lame PR effort)

If manufacturers don’t want us to compare road cars to GT3 racers then probably best to avoid the whole lap time subject all together.
