Is it just me or does the steering wheel badge look like it’s screaming in agony?? Perhaps someone stood on its tail..?
Custom Growlers - very coolVery in tune with the Iron Maiden philosophy: they don’t take themselves too seriously. Unlike some metal bands.
Could market it as a Jinger?

Has a bit of a hot rod feel to it... wouldn't say no (but I'd change the wheels)
I'll take one in black.
Has more than a whiff of Retropower Jag about it... https://retropower.net/2018/02/05/jaguar-xjc430-ls...
Love the official car and love the Retropower one.I'll take one in black.

And I'm far from a "jag guy"

Quite a few similarities to my XJ Coupe project here

Agreed. Perhaps some bespoke 18 inchers based on a wheel that really suits the XJ, the GKN Kent?
I was going to say the same thing, on Kent's it would be nigh on perfect.Regardless of whether you like it or not I think the world would be a duller place with owners (and cars!) Like this

First impressions this series xj looks and sits right. My better half is an interior designer so as she explains personal taste shouldn’t be confused with style.
The series 3 had plastic looking bumpers and the versions fitted to this car tidy up those lack lustre original versions. The opened up rear arches gives the car symmetry on the side profile and the red interior peeping through the windows against the paintwork does look good.
My personal opinion is once looking at the inside it’s all very angry looking. It’s a good job but all that red doesn’t look very relaxing. I like the black stained veneer on the dash which could have been stained red for a really angry finish perhaps.
Engine wise using a set of triples would have suited a series 2 xj but series 3 xj’s were made with carburettors so I can see the point of using those. I would imagine the under bonnet picture looks better than a fuel injected version.
The wheel choice is very American. In that because it’s a jag, wire wheels must be fitted. My opinion is if you fit wire wheels they must be splined hubs with the centre spinner holding the wheels on. A remade set of period alloy wheel with a solid centre in a 18” diameter maybe slot mags or earlier d-type Dunlop wheels I think would have looked better. Image do a nice brm style which could have also been a good alternative.
The thing with custom style is it’s very personal, so hats off for making this and showing it off

Using a classic colour wheel, the complimentary colour for the interior should have been nearer a light tan, not something that makes the whole car look like some angry, engorged phallus!
But if the guy lives in ‘the colonies’ (I’m presuming LA?) then angry red is fine, as yanks have little sense of style or taste so it would appeal to their sensibilities.
I’m quite confused by the car itself
I really, really like the body shape, it was a sublime design on jaguars part.
But I too find the wheels (reference my comment on LA), and steering wheel are just too...spangly and jar badly against the rest of the design.
I was going to say ‘chrome wire wheels, really?’ but again, when in the USA.....
With regards to the drivetrain I was expecting something contemporary, perhaps the supercharged 5.0 engine and gearbox from the current X351 XJR Model.
My personal spec would be to include the new headlighthts and bumpers, leave the interior stock other than fitting Recaro or similar front seats and a more sympathetic sports steering wheel.
I would probably choose (the almost ‘default’) BBS alloys of some design and look at the 4.2 or 5.0 s/c engine and gearbox.
That or just go out and buy the best 4.2c or 5.3c available and enjoy it for what it was....

The series 3 XJ was not an in house Jaguar design. Pininfarina was given the job of doing a cheap update to the series 2 so that it would remain current looking because of the delays to the XJ40 programme which should have actually replaced the series 2. rtz62 said:

As part of my restomod of a series 2 coupe I looked at all of the drivetrain options. Personally I settled on a 6.0 v12 from a late XJS with a 4 speed auto box update. The latest engine that will fit in the bodyshell is the mid 90s supercharged 6. Anything past that doesnt fit because it is too tall and the transmissions are much bigger being 6 or 8 speed and they just wouldnt fit in the tunnel even with extensive modifications. I was being quoted stupid money to even attempt it. The cheapest way of adding power in terms of a modern drivetrain is a crate LS3 but for many that goes down like a pork chop at a mosque.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
