Thanks for the advice, still looking but nothing so far.......can’t seem to get in quick enough with anything decent on gumtree (seems to be a lot of rubbish around although some of the more bizarre ads are keeping me amused).

What about this? Can’t check the MOT history though, worth a look or ridiculous idea ?

I managed to blag a 2001 1.8 Honda Accord S with 73k miles today for £750.

Amazingly it has a newish set of £400 Michelin cross-climate (?) tyres on it, along with loads of history.

Why the hell anyone would want to spend £400 on a set of 15" tyres is beyond me, but I'm not going to complain.

It has working, reconed aircon and a new clutch slave cylinder. It is so nice to drive, the manual 5 speed is so slick.

I'm happier than than Donald Trump at a beauty pageant.

That's the best seller to have, the no-cost spared kind. Rare though.

I missed a 2.0 during The Beast from the East because the dealer couldn’t get to his showroom.

Brilliant. Some of that headlight polisher on there and that will look fantastic. Nice buy.

High miles and a bit of rust on the tailgate and fuel cap... but for 540 quid (so 500 quid, really) would this be worth the money? MOT to December, the advisory list isn't that scary.

9-5 Aero HOT estate auto

EDIT: Never mind, the diesel above looks better!

I should add that I did not buy from the last owner. I went to my friends garage to look at a different car and this had just come in and I loved it - I think I paid a fair price, but the fact that my friend has given it a once over and fixed a couple of issues really helped the confidence. They had replaced the slave cylinder which they found to be leaking and the seller who part-exed for another car had failed to mention!

It even had a receipt for the head gasket having been done a year or so prior!
Speaking of K Series HGF...

Would I be an idiot to swap my 9-3 for an MG ZS+ 1.8 which has had its head done?

Seller says he's getting rid as he wants something more comfy for his wife, who has a bad back. Looks ok in photos. Is in daily use so it's not like the head is on the way out, you'd think. MOT history is good, only advisory last time was rear brakes and they've since been done. Other than HGF what should I be looking out for?

Any opinions on this?

www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/20180412548...

Is 190,000 miles a lot for one of these?

Factory-fitted LPG too

Bloke in my road in east London who I know is selling this. It's a nice clean car, well looked after. He basically wants rid of it (despite the toppy asking)so if anyone is after a nice clean straight focus for 450/500 quid this might be worth a look...

A nice, late 318is is a lovely thing.

This one however appears to have been used as an anchor for a large ship.

Nice indeed but this one is overpriced by about £350 IMHO

And I reckon the dealer knows it too, hence the comment about offers.

almost certainly you would be mad but it depends on the quality of the repair.

thermostat replaced? or even present
latest spec mls gasket fitted?
cylinder liner heights checked? one of the most common cause of reccurent failure is not noticing the liners have slipped
head skimmed?

There isnt a lot else goes wrong with the k series really

Think it's on 90k ish.

It's tatty, with a few dents/scratches but will be below thread budget.

Any interest to anyone?
