Furry muff.

Fun motoring, sounds like it's been owned by someone who knows what they're about, low-ish miles.

How about a one owner 2.5 v6 X Type with 62k miles and a 12 month MOT with no advisories for 750 quid?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

It's near me and actually quite tempting, despite thinking that the 3.0l must be a better bet than the 2.5l...oh and the intermittent eml.

Jag mileage can't be genuine surely, based on the MOT history?

So much corrosion at such a low mileage???

I suppose if it hasn't moved much then perhaps corrosion would occur - I know these X Type's have a reputation for rusting along the sills. It must have had welding (or a dodgy MOT) though as no corrosion advisories in 16, 17 or 18? Though that MOT history puts me right off, you are correct.

I've been actively searching for a car in the bargain basement bracket to replace my VW Bora this past 2 weeks.

And I've seen several cars with a claimed low mileage, however the MOT history suggests otherwise based on the listed faults.

If people actually maintained these cars fully as well as clocking them, then the MOT history would likely be less of a giveaway!!

But as things stand, many of these cars seem to hobble from MOT to MOT with little or no maintenance in between.

Indeed. I am also searching in the sub 1500 quid bracket, but with the added difficulty that I want to buy something relatively interesting (i.e. either small and chuckable or large powerful engine). I had an eye on a Suzuki Ignis Sport nearby on a claimed 39k miles, but the MOT history shows it was blatantly clocked.

Seems way to cheap.

Perhaps they missed a '0' off the price?

I like the wording of that ad! - but how much damage is that across the entire front of the car?
