So most boost than the preceding model, very much like the new model...

The issue is, pretty much every new version of a car will strive to go in the same direction. The car itself, as an object, has to be seen to be making economical progress, as well as other things. I don't believe that has to instantly translate to them becoming bland, boring and not much fun to drive.

I think Ford are trying hard to give us the best of both worlds here. In world that is inevitably gravitating towards becoming powered by electricity, this really isn't a bad way to keep everyone happy in the mean time.

yes

I'm glad they're making a new model

The current gen Fiesta is on my likely purchase list to replace my current Insignia, once my eldest daughter has gone to university. My wife owns the Mk6 ST150 and personally I reckon its a very under-rated car. All it lacked was decent umph, in comparison with the Clio 182. So Ford fixed that with the Mk7, which I thought was spot on in terms of the performance suitable for a small hot hatch. The Mk8 offers a little bit more as standard. Good! I think 189-190BHP is a real sweet spot in a lightish hot hatch... the Integra Type R had 187 BHP from 1100KG, the EP3, 197 BHP from 1200KG, so a Fiesta in that region is good enough for me!!

I'd imagine it'll be a case of tweaking the great package that went before. Seeing as the Mk7 pretty much led its class for four years, it seems reasonable not to greatly mess with a winning package Golf have been doing that with the GTI since the MK5 raised the bar significantly over the Mk4 and It seems a sensible approach to me!

Reckon it is going to be a huge seller, like the last one.

Less capacity and cylinders, I won't be buying this one.
I remember FiestaSTOC being full of people saying they wouldn't buy a mk7 because it was 400cc smaller and looked like a fish. They all had one a year later hehe

I had Kawasaki KH400 and Suzuki GT550 triples with expansion chambers, followed by a Kawasaki Z1B 900 four. In this universe the 900 with a straight through S&S 4-1 sounded way better.

What is it that you dislike about the new engine blade?

The reason it's here is to cut emissions and production costs, and I'm guessing it has less valve area. I preferred the 5 cylinder engine in the previous Focus ST and RS too.
I get that. But what is it that you dislike about the engine?
Im still interested to know what it is that you dislike about this engine? Ive not driven a car with that engine, so im no fan, im just curious thats all.

hehe

More power, more torque, lighter engine (so better balance), new suspension, optional LSD... sounds good to me (shame about the back end)

A Ford fiesta 3 cylinder, with an LSD and launch control.

My first fiesta was a red, 1.1, 1989. My biggest mod was a different carb. It got valve bounce at an indicated 100mph.

How times have changed!

Two strokes vs four stroke, quite a different sound. That said I love two stroke and four stroke triples, IMO my 3 cylinder Benelli Tornado sounds better than almost any IL4 cylinder bike (crossplane R1 excepted).

Yes, the standard Mk8 ST is not as powerful as the modified Mk7 ST or as powerful as the car they didn't build.

Apologies, I've should've factored spastication into my thought process. Jesus wept, where do we keep digging up these retards? hehe
Yes the Ford approved modification that doesn't affect your warranty and can be done in a Ford dealership. To be fair it includes an absolutely massive overhaul, such as; Custom aluminium high-flow airbox with dual cold air feeds, mountune high-flow panel air filter, Porous lower air feed hose, Required hardware / clips, Revised engine calibration. Massively modified, I'm surprised my engine hasn't exploded yet.

It's understandable though, with the language you use I probably didn't use the right words. So I'll try again.

Right bruv, da st MK8 FiSt ain't no match for da MK7 FiSt la! Da MP215 kit is propah wicked m8, and shuld have be deffo bean sold like dat from da factory m8. rolleyes

Better?

Not better as such, but that's what I'd expect to hear from a Fiesta ST driver.

Your profile says you drive an EP3 Type R, the single chaviest car in the world currently.

I know, that 100 cc, a full on Briggs and Strattons worth will be very noticeable, losing that extra cylinder will ruin the hushed waftiness you can only get from a 1.6 turbo four in a small hatchback biggrin

The signs are good, more power and things always change, I can sort fo see the Porsche Boxster 6 to 4 argument based on noise but generally threes sound better than fours anyway, and the 4 cyl turbo Boxster will kick the poo out of the old ones in every area apart from noise.

I would say, try one before you make a decision, less weiht, more power, fancy dampers etc...
