Disagree, plenty of Bentaygas have gone to sight-impaired former Range Rover customers - there’s a flashier, tackier, more expensive SUV available, so it gets bought. The SV Autobiography was clearly an initial response to the Swarovski Q7 - a precursor to the L405 replacement moving further upmarket.
Top flight FFRRs are not the JLR brand. The whole of the FFRR range accounts for less than 2% of JLR sales.

I think the "big daddy" RR is a very viable alternative to any Bentley...i have many friends / clients that have them both. It has the same amount of "kudos" imo...by the time you've specced it the way you want it..its well over £150k. I have to say (having driven / sat in / passengered etc etc) the RR is a better place to be in.

I'm a new owner to the brand..have to say the experience thus far has been nothing short of flawless (both dealership and "the car")..

Tarted-up Q7s are not the VW brand. The whole of the Bentley range accounts for less than 0.1% of VW Group sales.

PS - by Tarted-up Q7s, do you mean the Bentley Bentayga? If so, do you always have such a chip on your shoulder? rolleyes

No chip, although I’m happy to admit that I find the Bentayga vulgar and cynically-conceived, and it is very obviously just another variant of the VW MLB platform, largely built from the same bits as the Q7, new Cayenne, new Touareg, Urus etc.

Just because cars use the same platform does not mean they use the "same bits". That's a load of crap

There are lots and lots and lots of shared parts, that’s the point.

Do you not think that someone who is going to spend £150k plus on a luxury 4x4 is not going to look at a Bentaga and a FFRR SVA ?

Do you understand the concept of a Venn diagram. How small do you think the overlap is on JLR's model range and sales?

And do you understand that is was the claim that JLR see themselves as a Bentley competitor?

Where did you get that from? FFRR are over 10% of JLR sales (c70k of 620k cars).

When Bentley decided to make a large expensive 4x4 who did you think they thought they would be pinching sales from?

When JLR think about building cars at over £240k you think they don't think of themselves as luxury and premium as Bentley?
