All the German companies produce stinkers on occasion but Porsche are the most consistently good looking in my opinion.
Hmm to me Porsche don't make that many good looking cars

Cayman good
Boxster good
911 good
Cayenne bleh
Panamera new is an improvement but still bleh
Macan bleh

Weissman would be top but they don’t exist any more.

Exterior - BMW then Merc then Audi, then VW if we're doing them..

Interior - BMW, then close between Merc/Audi. Merc I don't like the stuck on ipad thing. Audi just doesn't interest me at all for some reason, i honestly don't know why.

Hence why I drive a BMW smile Test drove an A45 AMG, Audi S3 (no S5 in stock) and 440i. There was absolutely no doubt after the first few minutes of the BMW test drive smile

My cars are older, but I have 2 BMWs so I can relate to what you've said - and I do like RWD! laugh

I'm totally biased, but a BMW Z4C has to be up there in terms of looks!

In a quirky flame surfacing kind of way yes.

For most classes I would probably get a BMW but there's not a chance that they do the best interiors. So boring and copy and paste. And that orange econobox background lighting they use... Bleh. They can't seem to change their design from a 1 series to a 7 series, all the same. That crown has to go to merc or audi

Well if you mean me I'd have to say I don't mind - each to their own! I like what I have!

And so long as it works for me I'm happy! laugh

BMW are by far the dullest and worst copy and paste manufacturer out there at the minute. The front ends of all the cars look the same I can never tell if it’s a 1 series or a 3 series riding on my bumper. I can’t tell the 3 series from the 5 series anymore as the front and back are identical and even the m1,3 and 5 don’t look any different from the diesel m sports unless your looking for the exhausts on the rear. The worst are the vile x6 and X4 which is just the same car that’s been squashed in a vice. Same with the X1 and X3.
Mercedes and Audi make better looking cars that at least look slightly different to other models

Not IMO - Audi are the worst of the cut and paste operators. Is it an A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 or A8 up your chuff - but it will be an Audi for sure, it's just a matter of size! And that's before I get onto the Q2,Q3, Q5, and Q7 tractors.

But thankfully most of them can't keep up!

As for VW, I think the Golf GTI is the best looking German hatchback but they dont have the range of models (saloon, estates, supercars) to compare to the other brands.

Generally I have to agree, to the untrained eye most bmws look the similar and can get boring watching them. However the 6 series coupe, now that doesn't look like your usual bmw, it looks more distinct and is a very beautiful and elegant car imo.

Audi???

All they do is design an A4 to be as boring as possible and then photocopy the design pressing enlarge 20% and then again 40% and voila! The new A6 and A8!

Only the R8 saves them in the design stakes.

Mercedes do exactly the same. And BMW aren’t that far behind.

I am biased too, but for me if you stick to the core models and ignore the recent SUV/CUV additions (which are hopefully a passing fad) my order would be:

BMW
Audi
VW
Mercedes

Prime reason for putting MB at the bottom is that the cars have become too ‘bling bling’ in recent years, with the massive grilles and star badges on the front. VW and Audi I find boring whereas the BMW 3,4,5,6,7 saloons and estates are generally good looking cars.

Current Z4 is not great though and don’t even get me started about the X4/X6!

If we were including Porsche I think the new Panamera and 718 bring them way up the list (on looks only).

I agree Audi are just as bad all the front ends look the same aswell but I can always tell say an A3 saloon apart from a A4/6 whereas the likes of a BMW 3 or 5 series look identical same as the X4/6 and GT3/5.
I generally think all 3 “Premium” German brands are some of the worst copy and paste manufacturers out there yet people still buy them.
Even though VW cars are noticeably different aside from the front they are by far the worst when releasing new models that look identical to the last generation. They seem to just take a few centimetres off the lights and round them off and hey we have a new car. The Polo looks identical to the last few generations and the new saloon is just a revised Passat CC

Most Vauxhall’s and Fords are better looking than most of the generic BMW’s, VWs, Mercs and Audi’s at the basic end of the German car production industry. There isn’t really anything that enthralling going on in German utility box land and hasn’t been for a while. Strip out the football fanatic brand obsessions and try and get some objectivity and few are standing up and saying that these are good looking cars.

Volvo seems to the the European manufacturer that is currently making some quite elegant and understated cars with rather lovely interiors and all of it in a package that passes mostly unnoticed and is seemingly repellent to the gawdy and brand essential elements of modern society.

But emanating from Germany at the moment, I think the Fords are the better looking at the generic end of the market.

  1. biased.

I think Audi have lost the plot a bit, they all look the same unless side by side for size comparison.
I actually think that car is rather ugly, especially when you think that they didnt have to make it spacious or child friendly, so could have designed anything.
Nope , looks good to me .
Thats fair enough that you like it.

I just think that they have missed an opportunity to make something far sexier.
I really like them. The proportions and stance are just right for me. It doesn't have any "dramatic surfaces" or whatever the designers call them. I think it will age very well.

Audi and merc are definitely the best at copy and paste EXTERIORS

However interiors - BMW come on.

New X1 vs old X1, it's the same fking thing!! Changing the angles on the HVAC does not make a new interior!!!

F10 vs F30, look at the bloody centre console its the same!!

New 7 vs old 7..... the flagship car

Same centre console as a 5 series as a 4 series as a 3 series a a 2 series as a 1 series as an X1 etc etc

At least Audi and merc make changes to the interior and IMO both manufacturers interiors look fantastic

To me I really don't care if the interior works... I'm sure it's ergonomically perfect but it's lazy design

etc...
