The phrase "putting lipstick on a pig" comes to mind...

Your money though.

Bit of topic but I'm slightly curious to what your first car was?

My wife had an Ibiza Sportrider, with the stupid 17 inch low profile OE wheels, naturally all chipped and scraped and which gave a terrible ride on bumpy country roads.
I managed to swap them for a brand new set of OE 14inch steel wheels and tyres from a big standard Polo. Improved the car no end, and I believe the boy racer Polo driver was happy too...idiot.

Get some steel wheels with a nice high profile tyre and paint them silver.
It will stand out from the crowd and will probably ride better. Cheap tyres too.

If it's your first car, I would suggest that your insurance is quite high, and these wheels would count as a modification which would probably increase it some more. Why not refurbish the ones that are already on it?

Insurance was already notified of the change. They're beyond the state of repair

So, you 'swapped' a set of 17" alloy wheels and presumably low profile tyres for a set of 14" steel wheels/tyres and you call the other person an idiot?

Nissan Micra. Bog standard. 3 years old when I bought it (paid cash). It was ugly. It was slow. I still liked it as it was my first car. Probably the car we kept the longest as I passed it onto my wife and bought something better (a Mazda - so long back I am not sure what the model was called. Had a two litre engine so felt like a rocket ship next to the Micra). I didn't try to make it look better though. Didn't see the point. Saved for 5 years and bought myself a 944 Turbo.

OP, you forgot the first rule of PH - never ask for an opinion on PH.

For what it's worth, I prefer the second ones.

I swapped a set of BMW Style 49 17" wheels for a set of 15" OEM cross spokes. They looked more in keeping, and stopped the dreaded "shimmy", and it rode better generally.

Maybe, but the OP obviously likes gloss black as both of the links were gloss black alloys (or black at least!)

Any more suggestions for silver/gunmetal alloys for the ibiza that you think would look good?
