What is wrong with just buying the car & leaving the personal plate on it?
Most (but not all) "personal/private" plates nowadays just look ridiculous with crap spacing, etc; presumably if it was a decent plate, it would have been sold separately or retained by the seller.
The spacing is just down to the person who put it on the car thinking that the laws down apply to them and they can have their plate the way they want.

I've just gone on to AutoTrader and done a free search on the reg plate and it's coming up as a white Toyota pickup 2015. In the auction it's a gun metal 2016 Bmw.
So I will need to look in to it a lot more.
What did you discover?

It was listed on the bca auction site as a bmw 330e stating "private plate" . Both auto trader and the DVLA shows the plate referring to a white Toyota pickup.
However this morning the auction details have changed and it's showing a normal number plate. The earlier photo showing the private plate we're in the auction holding compound.
I can't understand why if it's listed against a Toyota it was photographed on a bmw.

As suggested. Photo was taken with private plate physically on it even though it had been transferred. They eventually got wrong to putting the age related physical plate on. Original owner is now in his Toyota
