That's true, but doesn't change the fact that a competent motor cyclist would have recognised the likelihood of a pedestrian making that sort of error, and slowed down more as he approached the narrow gap. On rewatching the video, the girl is visible starting to cross the road before he reaches the black cab- looks to be in the centre of his view, not the periphery, so that was another chance missed to avoid her.

It was a really easy mistake to make and I am not suggesting biker is a maniac- just hope he learns from it- he was just luck away from causing serious injury with all the possible consequences for both of them.
He did say in the comments that he was looking in his mirror, so suggested that's why he missed her. I do agree that he was going a bit too quick given that it's a very common occurrence for pedestrians to do this in London.

Regards the other comment above of the rider blaming the pedestrian, he was just as much in shock as she would have been, and didn't take long to ask how she was.

Years ago my brother knocked over a pedestrian(their fault) in London, he didn't give a fk how he was. He's usual mild-mannered, but said that he was effing and jeffing at the guy. Shock can make people react differently. biggrin

Ad against st driving, about time is all I'll say.

A few from a local channel, I've just stumbled across

Mostly impatient cocks, but they always seem worse when you know most of the roads featured.

Ad also advocates st driving.

The guy is in the RH lane next to an empty LH lane.

It also reinforces the myth that you are only tailgated in the RH lane... There's no code of honour for tailgaters, they'll ride right up your trumpet no matter what lane you're in.

I quite like Adam C3046's Youtube channel but he is filming some stuff that is terrifying, not just a cheeky burnout but some serious transgressions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho3JGKMJZw8&ed...

That biker is just asking for trouble appearing at well over a ton to where a load of cars are exiting at speed/sideways, pedestrians everywhere, someone gets it wrong and could easily be multiple fatalities.
Like this you mean

My daughter is 18 , I can't imagine what her parents are feeling, all because of some tt who wants to show off

Yep, like that, so easy for it to go badly wrong when people are doing stuff like that. Same with the Ace cafe in London.

I can see why people watch, great fun but I am not for trusting someone with more bravado than talent in a tonne and half plus of car in close proximity.

Then they moan when the Police arrive.

It will be race between that and a rant about Audi drivers (the car stolen was an Audi).

Hero. He did what we all secretly want to do (but generally restrain ourselves from doing so) when presented with a pack of these two wheeled menaces. I can easily see as they get more and more militant, more drivers losing their patience entirely.

If only that were an option, you're born with 100 points then off down the vets, murder is 99 points, behaving like that is 20, I doubt this guy would've made it to 15 years old, who would drive like that then announce "it's a stolen car" like it's a get out of jail free card, you won't catch me copper

No too bad that one. Definitely a DD in the 5 Series and a few of those overtakes, especially the Focus/Tractor one was so dangerous.

Where do they get their data from?

According to the DFT report - "travelling too close" is a contributory factor in 6% of all accidents (and 1% of fatal accidents) This twitter ad implies the rate is around 12.5%.

It's a similar story with BBC articles on speeding. This article by the BBC states "Speed is a contributing factor in around half of fatal road collisions, according to the Metropolitan Police".

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-43841859

Yet official DFT report states that speed (i.e. speeding and/or travelling too fast for the conditions) is a contributory factor in 22% of fatal accidents.

Driving instructor v Aberdeen's DCW.

Not a big incident, but what chance have cyclists got when their instructor is feeding them with this type of instruction?

He's had to take his Facebook page down due to the attention and he's been reported to anyone that would listen.

Speed probably wasn't the cause of the accident - the cause was probably someone not paying attention or not driving within their ability - but the speed at which the vehicles collide increases the damage and injuries.
Hence being described as a contributing factor.

Has nothing to do with cyclists or car drivers - it's the dheads who can't/won't look out for others who ruin it for everyone. Instructor is one of these people, a complete selfish prick. Cyclist blameless. The council planners need culling.

To be fair they passed a bit close anyway, irrespective of whether he was a driving instructor or not. Clearly it would have never have been possible to do it properly as there was an oncoming car.

Idiot.

Flipside I cannot *exactly* approve of leaving the reviews like has been done and forcing his page offline.
