Aha that's amazing, and not in a good way.

Looks to me like the 1 series driver is not paying attention and is in a rush, when the car in front indicates to move right the 1 series moves left and speeds up to undertake both cars but suddenly realised the cycle rider!
I'd say he was already pressuring/intimidating the Astra, closing the gap in even a short clip and going for an undertake when he thinks the Astra is going to change lanes, rather than making room.
I had similar encounter the other day, single lane dual carriageway, car in front of me is dawdling a bit (about 45 in a 70 limit), suddenly brakes hard with no indication and pulls into a bus stop layby, I slam on the brakes and turn right putting my wheels just onto hatch markings to a) avoid a collision and b) just in case they're trying to do a U turn, Mini driver behind immediately tries to dive into the bus stop layby to undertake me before realising there's a daft Peugoet driver in the way and then leans on the horn as I move off as though it's my fault.......

So when I saw that clip I knew instantly what the BMW driver was trying to do, too much focus on getting past at all cost, not enough focus on the road ahead.

If I were the cyclist I would have chosen to ride further out into the lane, but this is PH and the majority think cyclists are scum that shouldn't be on the roads. Cue another page of cyclist bashing.

Was waiting to see if anyone questioned the dash cam drivers lane choice as both cars on the inside look to be going quicker.
It's more of a case of myself giving enough distance to the vehicle in front, and making room for the astra & 1 series (I saw the cyclist and anticipated the movement of traffic into my lane).

It's a 40mph limit btw, and this driver performed a number of driving errors that morning. After skimming past the cyclist, he subsequently overtook the astra and braked checked him....

Suprised to see some people requiring explanation as to why this is bad though.

If you were a cyclist why would you use a road rather than a cycle lane ? (assume it is in good order)

I am a cyclist, I also drive a car.

I'd use a cycle lane if it wasn't blocked by parked cars and it went where I wanted to go, not where the planners designed it to go. I cycled 40 miles on Saturday, less than half a mile of that had a cycle lane and all of that half mile was either full of road debris or parked cars, therefore I chose not to use the cycle lane.

Interestingly, all the close passes (less than a metre) where out of town where cycle lanes don't exist.

There's no cycle lane in the video. There's a road and the pavement. The pavement might be shared use for cyclists and pedestrians but there doesn't appear to be any markings or signage to support that. Cyclist is allowed to use the full lane, BMW needs re-educating.

Since when is an XF (probably a 2.2 diesel) a "sports car"?
Probably a none petrol head journo thinking 'oh, those Jaguars are sporty, aren't they'
The reporter was promised a sports car as a company car upgrade instead of a pay rise in his last negotiation and that's what he got?...............

There were 5 other occupants other than the driver? Where was the extra person sitting? On someones lap? Also note the time is mid-afternoon, must have started the session early!

several examples of near misses due to folk making up their own rules.
For example stopping on the main road to let folk out from the side road.
I'm increasingly seeing this on my daily commute.
That first clip is an almost carbon copy of what happened to me on the M25 in 2016 (albeit the vehicle in front wasn't involved). No dashcams, but thankfully no hassle with liability either. I saw it coming, and there was nothing I could do.

Why do some people see roundabouts (with several lanes) as an overtaking opportunity???

It isn't, or it shouldn't be!

If there is a car in front of you, fking stay behind it! Let it change lanes for heavens sake!!

I am also getting annoyed at people thinking they are being nice by stopping at junctions and letting people out. Just go and stop directing traffic!!

Flat bed truck starts pulling out at 5:11. Cammer brakes at 5:14 (and lays on the horn for good measure). While the truck driver was clearly in the wrong, this is typical dashcammer behaviour. Create a completely avoidable "near miss" for more dramatic footage.

yep, yet I got my balls thoroughly busted on here for saying that I travel slower on the motorway when I owned an L200/hilux as if you had to swerve I'd be worried about it tipping over

In this particular case there is a fair chance that clip would have ended very differently if the bike was further out into the lane.

I'd have been on the path, a parked car blocking it is less inconvenient than hospital.

You'd have chosen to cycle on the pavement? Rule 64 I think.

When did rules "re-inflate" a flat cyclist ?

So the solution to the problem is not to educate the motorist but to move the cyclist off the road?
