The "Sh*t Driving Caught On Cam" Thread (Vol 4)

Are we talking about different clips? The camera car stopped because a child was on the crossing, as the child bounced off the bonnet the zigzags clearly continue beyond the crossing. The controlled area clearly encompasses the entire crossing and the road beyond. An overtaking car appears to the right, clearly unaware of anyone using the crossing, unsighted by the camera car. This, surely, is the whole point of the regulations covering the overtaking of the leading car on zigzag lines?
Would a competent driver really overtake that quickly on a pedestrian crossing of any variety, without being absolutely certain the crossing was clear?
"Controlled area" is defined as being the area bordered by zigzags, not the crossing itself. See the diagrams in Part 8 of this page: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1997/2400/sched...Would a competent driver really overtake that quickly on a pedestrian crossing of any variety, without being absolutely certain the crossing was clear?
It is only illegal to overtake within a controlled area on the approach to a crossing. The Audi did not do this, it overtook on the crossing.
It is only illegal to overtake a vehicle which is proceeding towards the crossing, or which has stopped to comply with the signals (red/amber) - neither of these applied to the camera car.

If you think that video needs a warning you need to give yourself a shake and remind yourself of the potential consequences of your driving. This modern day desire for absolute insulation from anything mildly uncomfortable or unexpected is shameful.

Yawn. Plenty of room for two cars to pass. I bet there weren't any no entry signs either, making the painted arrow purely advisory.SmoothCriminal said:

Just after the 700 series Volvo towards the end goes by a couple of fighter planes fly past. Is the one that isn't a Spitfire a Hurricane? Or a Mustang?SmoothCriminal said:
ive done this, the old guy i encounted was wanting me to back up, about 15 metres, making it difficult for me to pass him, there was room, i just drove round him, he got very upset, it was quite funny really how some people overreact to trivial matters.there is a mentality to punish anyone who dares to make a mistake, it is quite sad really as it was just a non event, no kids injured, life goes on.

Spitfire and Hurricane I think.Back to the clip - yes, the old bat was in the wrong, but it was probably a genuine mistake. There was bags of room for two cars to pass. Why didn't the fat blob in the Motability Vauxhall move over rather than getting out to film? It would have been over in seconds rather than making a giant scene out of a minor issue.
