Uprated the horn on my car last year to a truck airhorn but blew the fuse a couple of months back so have just been relying on 1 stock horn (my cars fitted with one horn either side).
I've just fitted a 40amp fuse this afternoon so it's back in use but I fear that until the novelty wears off it's turned me into a DCW as people freeze in their tracks when I press it so I can continue driving when people pull out.

I think you're right. The function of a fuse is to protect the wiring. Can your car's wiring withstand a 40amp current for very long?I've just fitted a 40amp fuse this afternoon so it's back in use but I fear that until the novelty wears off it's turned me into a DCW as people freeze in their tracks when I press it so I can continue driving when people pull out.

Doesnt matter who got onto it first. On a roundabout you give way to anyone already on it.

You've heard a truck horn yes? That sounds nothing like one I've just fitted a 40amp fuse this afternoon so it's back in use but I fear that until the novelty wears off it's turned me into a DCW as people freeze in their tracks when I press it so I can continue driving when people pull out.

I was on the roundabout first (just) otherwise I wouldn't have uploaded the footage, most times I'd just let them go but I thought I'd give a beep whilst covering the brakes just to see what reaction I'd get simply due to the type of vehicle it was.
Usually the drivers of those vehicles (4x4 but not prestige) don't give a damn but they stopped in their tracks, with my previous horn I reckon they would have kept on going.
I went into Screwfix earlier and left my gf in the car, it was taking a while for the staff to find my order so I called, when on the phone I asked her to press the horn so she lent on the horn and I could hear it clearly in the store even though I parked about 50 meters away in the carpark and that was with the engine off.
It's not as loud as a full fledged truck horn but it's a lot louder (and deeper in tone) than my oem setup which is frankly feeble when compared to my last car (twenty year old Saab).
Another technical question.... Trucks run 24v batteries, how are you running a truck horn on a car?I've got a relay running it from the battery, the inline fuse I have is tucked under the cowling so I needed to take it apart to replace it, it had a 30amp one in and I've now got a 40.
The marketing give two different figures for the db emitted (115 or 139), the higher I assume is at 24v, I should be getting 14.4v when the engine's on.

The dashcam audio doesn't really do it justice.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fObUqu-aUmM

Is it an emergency vehicle? If not, then why is he using blue strobe lights? You can see them flash off the building walls and cars. Do we have a Walt here?
My dashcam is susceptible to emi and it manifests itself as blue/purple artifacts on the video, I don't have any blue lights on my car. lyonspride said:

Stebel have adapted their innovative patented "Nautilus" technology to create a new air horn. It is able to emit 134dB (measured at 10cm) & 110dB (measured at 2 meters) at an "earth quaking" frequency of 300 Hz. Up until now, this same frequency performance could be reached only by using "trombones" of almost 50cm in length and the obvious placement difficulties that come with such bulky items. The Stebel Compact truck Horn does not require complex connections to the vehicle's compressed air chamber because it features an incoporated mini-compressor with a totally independent capability. Particularly suited for mountings "under the hood".

I think you need to reread that, sport.Roundabout, priority to right, give way to anyone else
Unless you want to come away with some dents sometime and have 50:50 argument with your insurer
Another unwritten one, dont go around a roundabout alongside someone else, unless you want to risk a sideswipe

There are regulations around horn types, have you had it MOT'd with it on ?
Also, have you declared it to your insurance ? if it shorts out the electrics and causes a fire I cant imagine they would want to pay out.
Personally I wouldn't want something that alarms other road users and pedestrians beyond the normal horn fitted to the car.
