I'm not sure how else to explain it.
If there's someone on the roundabout already then I'll give way to them. That doesn't necessarily mean not joining myself, depending on the size of the roundabout.
In the scenario you describe, me at 9 o'clock, them at 12 o'clock, it could be entirely feasible for me to join the roundabout at the same time, or even after them, without us ever coming into conflict.
Obviously on a mini-roundabout this is unlikely to be feasible, and if there's someone already on it then I'll probably not be joining too.
If I'm joining at 9 and see a car also joining at 3, then if I think I can join without ever impeding them then I will. Clearly I wouldn't do it if I thought they'd have to brake or adjust their course.
Obviously if a car had joined in front of me (the me at 9, them at 12 scenario) and they were a dawdler, and were on the roundabout before me, what I wouldn't do is accelerate towards them whilst leaning on my horn and shouting "cam-ruh".
That now makes perfect sense. Dont forget if you have to accelerate, and the horn and shout cam-rah" don't forget those needed words spoken slowly "what a fking wker", that tts vids always make me chuckle. If there's someone on the roundabout already then I'll give way to them. But then how are you going to get any footage to put on youtube?
Worst example of roundabout rage coupled with ignorance that I've seen has shown up on a couple of compilations - there's a guy driving up towards a small/mini-roundabout at what seems like an overly fast speed for an urban area, to enter at "6 o'clock" - but someone else joins (before he reaches the roundabout himself) at "9 o'clock" to make a turn around and continue at "6 o'clock" causing the DCW to drive straight on to the roundabout without any attempt at slowing down first, so he can slam his brakes on and beep/flash the first vehicle. Both stop and there's a lot of shouting with the DCW berating the other motorist with "Do you know how roundabouts work?". Facepalm.....
For sure if I had been the guy entering the roundabout at 9 o'clock and seen the DCW coming at speed towards the roundabout from my right, I'd probably have chosen not to enter out of wanting to avoid a possible accident but the attitude of "I'm coming from your right so you have to give way to me even if you have reached the roundabout first" is maddening, especially the self-righteousness and ignorance afterward.
I don't know how these people survive without a constant drip of blood pressure medication.

If you're this irritated by a minor inconvenience, I'd wonder how you would cope with an actual annoyance, other than immediately having a coronary.

So many of these dash cam videos just show how bad the dash cam drive is.https://youtu.be/PjeI-XuHbqA?t=115

Another unwritten one, dont go around a roundabout alongside someone else, unless you want to risk a sideswipe
But then how are you going to get any footage to put on youtube?Just about 95% heading north in two lanes, entry at 6 and exit at 12, five days a week, those who do not exit at 12, exit at 9.
I must add I am in the minority who bother to indicate on exit, so many here seem to have no indicators.

Zorban looks to be a case in point - way too fast down a narrow wet country lane

Just totting up on that UK Dash Cams video - on each clip I've given a point for actual bad driving from the "subject", and a point if the cammer made it worse by being a knob.
29 points for bad "subject" driving, 12 points for knob cammers!
Two clips stand out there as really frightening - https://youtu.be/PjeI-XuHbqA?t=437 and https://youtu.be/PjeI-XuHbqA?t=565
Awful.

But I have to say (and I'm not excusing the insane OTT reaction), he's fundamentally right though, isn't he? Why does the other driver think he can block a lane for his own convenience? Maybe if people did react instead of ignoring this st all the time, people wouldn't do it any more?
Near me people used to do this on a 40MPH road, there were a number of side-on crashes because of it, and a couple of people got killed. Council changed it to no right turns allowed in the end, making it less convenient for everyone. All because people couldn't wait for a safe gap to turn right.
(Of course the same morons now turn left and immediately do a U-ey to bypass that, so we've had to have a load of bollards installed to stop that as well now)
The most amusing doughnut fail I've ever seen. Poor E36....
