She was fairly piling down behind him as well especially through the tunnel, I'd have been a bit twitchy if I'd seen her in the mirror!

Absolutely. No way the dashcammer should have stopped, should have forced the oncoming car off the road. Fiat woman totally innocent.

Now, where did I put the parrot? laugh

Highway Code Rule 126

Stopping Distances. Drive at a speed that will allow you to stop well within the distance you can see to be clear. You should

leave enough space between you and the vehicle in front so that you can pull up safely if it suddenly slows down or stops. The safe rule is never to get closer than the overall stopping distance (see Typical Stopping Distances diagram, shown below)
allow at least a two-second gap between you and the vehicle in front on roads carrying faster-moving traffic and in tunnels where visibility is reduced. The gap should be at least doubled on wet roads and increased still further on icy roads
remember, large vehicles and motorcycles need a greater distance to stop. If driving a large vehicle in a tunnel, you should allow a four-second gap between you and the vehicle in front.

Now can everyone especially jagnet STFU and post more vids

Exactly what you'd expect from a woman driving a small "fashionable" car - too fast , too close, no observation or anticipation, no concept of braking distances, mind on something else.

People can say that's sexist or whatever, but it's also true. If there's a woman driving a Corsa / Bini / 500 behind, this is the behavior you will observe.

You've just described my wife, except she drives a Q5, but yes too busy thinking about the washing, what's for tea, getting her nails done to worry about the trivial matter of driving her vehicle.

You should keep going, once you get past the M62 it's sensationally beautiful.

His radio most certainly has an 'officer down' emergency button so could be quite helpful if he was hit

Fiat 500 seems very popular in my area with young women with an attitude who frequently surge up behind other cars and follow too closely.

Obviously it was the Fiat's fault, but it was hardly defensive driving on the DCW's part, twitchy car behind him and he slams the brakes on to give way to oncoming cars that were clearly visible instead of anticipating and stopping more gently...

Should have partially pulled into the drive on the left to let the oncoming cars past and make himself more visible to other oncoming vehicles so that they could have had the opportunity to give way. There's also a gap on the right oncoming vehicles could have used. Hesitant driving in not claiming the right of way available to him no doubt caused this accident.

OK, I’ll give you that. However we have the advantage of continually watching a rear view camera. Hopefully the driver spent 95% of that time looking forwards so would reasonably be a bit less aware of the demonstration of poor driving behind him.
Also, if he did notice, that sort of stupid or aggressive driving pressures the driver in front into making mistakes. Worrying about the idiot behind instead of concentrating on what’s happening in front.

He seems to be unable to watch the road ahead and drive defensively either.

Worrying about the idiot behind is an integral part of deciding how to deal with hazards ahead; it's not an either/or thing.
