Latest WelshDrive upload. A lot of useless DCWs who'd rather get footage than use common sense as usual.
Thanks for the heads up.. I'm not even gonna bother clicking the link to watch it.

WelshDrive used to be one of the few who actually only posted decent clips. He seems to have gone the same way as others now and just posts any old rubbish.

My first post from my dashcam. Short, and I hope to God this isn't a sad news story by tomorrow morning (oh, this morning, now...)

https://youtu.be/55_dWXSbaII

Very, very little time to react (and basically zero reaction, I'm not one for swearing out loud much) - I was keeping half an eye on the van I was passing as he was right across his lane... and you just don't imagine oncoming lights are actually oncoming on the motorway. Police "aware and on their way, along with fire and ambulance".

God that is scary! They looked like they were going bloody fast as well. Fingers crossed they got stopped before killing someone.

Got my flameproof suit so do your worst...

You shouldn't have stopped for him.

He's trying to cross the road INTO the junction opposite, with a junction immediately to his left and a parked bus on a curve obscuring the vision of any oncoming cars once he makes it onto the other side of the road.

Camcar stopped too far away from him leaving a gap more than big enough that the Proton thought it was for them.

What people don't realise is that whilst it might be obvious to THEM that they're letting a pedestrian cross, not all other road users are observant enough to notice. Once that pedestrian gets in front of your car they're pretty well hidden from oncoming traffic.

Don't get me started on drivers that stop to let pedestrians cross when there's no marked crossing and they're the only car for miles around!

Courtesy causes confusion. There's a time and place for it but this possibly wasn't it.

Flame away... biggrin
This 100%

It isn’t any thing like an overwhelming desire, it’s just that you’re wrong....again... it worries me you have a driving licence to be frank.

What a pair of throbbers.
Agreed. I know that road very well, used to use it every day a few years ago. I occasionally came across throbbers(oh matron..) at the same spot where people's lack of merge in turn knowledge was highlighted.

Must have been literally seconds - my footage is passing the off slip for junction 27, it's only 2 miles back to junction 26 and she was tanking it.

Many thoughts this morning on life and luck; thoughts to the BMW driver who can't have had time to think more than "shiii..."; I was driving home the rest of the way last night thinking there's no chance anyone would survive that impact - glad to be wrong for once.

And a quick thanks to all the emergency service people who have to deal with this sort of stuff on a daily basis.

I have of course got in touch with Gwent Police to give them my little piece of the story (before I came on here this morning!)

I never said they weren't at fault. The Proton driver was obviously focused on finding a gap in the traffic, which they found thanks to cam-car leaving a huge gap for them.

As I pointed out, in a situation like that, other road users aren't looking out for pedestrians or other hazards. If they see a gap presented to them they become focused on that rather than all the other variables that need accounting for as well.

Courtesy may cause problems but lack of courtesy is bad manners and against the law.

Jesus, that's a big one you missed there, and sadly not a nice outcome. I never understand how someone can get on to the wrong side of a carriageway, THEN carry on. I can only guess it involves persons who are used to driving on the right abroad?

Again, I never said the Proton WASN'T at fault, but the situation was initiated by the cam-car stopping where he shouldn't, both in terms of there not being a proper crossing there and also far enough away from the junction on his right so as to present an inviting gap for some blind clueless Proton driver to zoom into.

1. The links in this thread are highlighted in blue, enabling you to skip to each one without having to read anything inbetween.

2. Discussion on clips isn't allowed but you complaining about said discussion is? Got it. rotate

3. If it really bothers you THAT much, go onto youtube, type "dashcam" in the search bar and then you won't have to read anything about each clip. HTH. smile
