Not entirely sure about the first clip - passing a cyclist at speed leaving a tiny gap...

That said, the drunk driver in the second clip was lucky to walk away from that, wow.

I’m with him though I use that road a lot, there is a large wide safe separate cycle lane - maybe 2m wide. The cyclists ignore it and cycle 2,3,4 abreast in the road slowing traffic down as they guffaw amongst themselves. It is infuriating.
Not this rot again.

The speed limit on Priory Lane is 20mph. It is a shared use cycle lane, fairly rough, and there are a lot of pedestrians on it. As a pedestrian I don't want to be sharing the footpath with cyclists doing 15-25 mph, do you. In the case of the cyclist in this video the path is on the other side of the road (and in fact they hadn't even reached it when Mr Wells went freaking berserk) so you have to cross the road twice to use it if you're going Southbound. It has multiple side roads where you have to give way to cars.

And you're with the crazed bloody lunatic who threatens to kill people because they're not using a cycle path that's not fit for purpose on a road that is used for access to a park.

The article could have emphasised the old ‘don’t sit in a foreign lorry drivers blind spot too long’ message a bit stronger. Some car drivers just don't realise how hard that area is to see.

White car occs very lucky though.

confused

I assume you're being sarcastic as he was barely touching the brakes. Judging from the middle axle he was running empty or light so could have easily stopped before rolling into the side of the white car. Those Mercs have stong brakes and can stop on a sixpence if need be.

Of course, nowadays you aren't allowed to suggest how a victim could avoid being one again- that would be victim blaming. You only have to drive on a busy motorway to see how many car drivers are happy to sit alongside a truck. Barmy.

Not ‘him’ in the vid, but yes! He was instructing at Cadwell the other week and his ‘trainee’ put his V6 Exige in the Armco after the mountain!

That is very true these day. The victims should be educated on their mistakes.
I joined a Facebook dashcam group and had to leave as the rules were not to criticise the OP.

From this thread I've found it sometimes takes a mistake from both parties to create an accident, yet people look to put the blame on only one of them.

I think looking for blame is half the problem- of course there will be some accidents involving seriously bad driving where blame and punishment are entirely appropriate, but usually, if we actually care about accident reduction, both parties should be learning lessons rather than a childish 'not my fault, he was a maniac' attitude.

Funny how that fast, close pass isn't seen as an issue, but the actions of another driver are.

All too common I'm afraid. I often wince when people pass me and other cyclists and don't even cross the white line(s) in the middle of the road.
