What was all that about?

He’d have been quicker waiting in line and taking the correct lane.

Like the idiots on a congested motorway who weave about in all the lanes, undertaking, generally driving like dicks etc to get ahead as they are so important and invariably end up no further ahead than if they'd just stayed put in a lane and gone with the general flow of traffic.

I had that yesterday in slow traffic on the M5, a white Q7 so that was so desperate to get ahead that he was swapping lanes at every single opportunity. After about 30 minutes he was 15-20ish cars ahead and when I came off the slip road and hit the traffic lights he was 3 cars ahead. rolleyes

I've been (w?)racking my brains to remember what that video reminded me of, and I've just seen it on the reddit comments

UPDATE : can't believe this has blown up like this so I'll update you all. This is not the first time I have been stuck behind this woman. The 1st, I had to wait 10 minutes till she got to her junction of the street. 2nd time, I beeped and she threatened to hit my car so that's why I started filming this time. Since the vids gone mad, I've been contacted by people in my area. She's hit 2 other cars for the same reason, she's made a girl who works in the post office cry and she's even threatened a local Councillor who knocked on her door. I have sent the video to the police who are investigating. But supposedly they are pleased I got this video as they have had reports of her before with no evidence or witnesses. I appreciate I got angry and am rarely like that, my SO didn't even believe it was me as she's never seen me like it. But, the old cow did hit my car. Thank you so much for the comments, the silvers and golds. It's unbelievable. And thank you to the ass holes who are messaging me saying I should go and die or kill myself...... Slightly hypocritical really.

Mythbusters looked at this twice, the second time in some depth. The car that weaved between lanes reached the destination before the cars that stayed in their lane.

Yes, by seconds. Not the minutes that these throbbers seem to think and the only way it would be by minutes is if you take EVERY single available opportunity.

In short, it's more trouble than it's worth and it pisses everyone else and makes the congestion worse.

ISTR Mythbusters also saying that a plane on a conveyor belt WOULD take-off too. scratchchin

What some drivers fail to remember is that the pedestrian has priority in such situations. If they wish to stroll down the centre of the street then they are perfectly entitled to do so and other road users will have to wait for a safe place to pass rather than expecting the pedestrian to give way.

The driver in this instance could do with anger management counselling. His reaction was disproportionate to the slight delay he was exposed to. I don't condone the woman's desire to damage his vehicle but I can understand why she might feel threatened at such an expletive ridden outburst - and if I were her solicitor, that's the stance I'd suggest she take! biggrin

It's been claimed a few times that pedestrians have priority, I even thought that was the case but I can't find a source for it anywhere so I think it's an old wives tale.
In this particular case it's pretty clearly highway obstruction in any event but the driver needs some perspective.

Sitting in stationary traffic watching the lane next to me moving, I decided to move over, after I did the lane I was in stopped, and the one I left was now moving, so I swapped again, only to find the lane I went back to came to a halt, and the one I left was now moving.

I said to my son, "Why is it evey time I change lanes it comes to a standstill".

He said "Its because your in it Dad".

Bloody annoying though when the next lane seems to making progress........

I made similar fatal errors last night on my way home from Leeds. Got in the 'wrong' lane on the inner ring road through the tunnels having moved from lane 1 to lane 2 to avoid a slip road joining 50 yds further on, only to watch lane 1 suddenly start flowing OK whilst lane 2 was at a standstill and I was too close to the car in front to do anything about it. I then did the same thing at the top of the M621 where it always backs up at evening rush hour but I knew from past experience that lane 1 moves better because of the Gildersome exit a mile further on. Not this time! I moved from lane 2 to lane 1 and then sat crawling along at walking speed while lane 2 traffic was flying past at a steady 30-40mph! WTF mad
