I made similar fatal errors last night on my way home from Leeds. Got in the 'wrong' lane on the inner ring road through the tunnels having moved from lane 1 to lane 2 to avoid a slip road joining 50 yds further on, only to watch lane 1 suddenly start flowing OK whilst lane 2 was at a standstill and I was too close to the car in front to do anything about it. I then did the same thing at the top of the M621 where it always backs up at evening rush hour but I knew from past experience that lane 1 moves better because of the Gildersome exit a mile further on. Not this time! I moved from lane 2 to lane 1 and then sat crawling along at walking speed while lane 2 traffic was flying past at a steady 30-40mph! WTF mad
I have this in supermarkets, the simple fact of me choosing the checkout makes it the slowest.

feel sorry for the old lady to be honest....thing is, she could actually hear the driver while his window was up
What some drivers fail to remember is that the pedestrian has priority in such situations. If they wish to stroll down the centre of the street then they are perfectly entitled to do so and other road users will have to wait for a safe place to pass rather than expecting the pedestrian to give way.

The driver in this instance could do with anger management counselling. His reaction was disproportionate to the slight delay he was exposed to. I don't condone the woman's desire to damage his vehicle but I can understand why she might feel threatened at such an expletive ridden outburst - and if I were her solicitor, that's the stance I'd suggest she take! biggrin
It's been claimed a few times that pedestrians have priority, I even thought that was the case but I can't find a source for it anywhere so I think it's an old wives tale.
In this particular case it's pretty clearly highway obstruction in any event but the driver needs some perspective.
I can see tolerating it a few times, but eventually I'd get fed up with her selfishly blocking the road. She would only have had to move a yard at the top of the road...

According to these sources, pedestrians should keep close to the side if they have to use the carriageway. I don't see any mention that they are allowed to walk along the centre of the road and obstruct other road users. Not that it means you can just run them over, but it doesn't appear to be a lawful use of the road.

"If there is no pavement, keep to the right-hand side of the road so that you can see oncoming traffic. You should take extra care and
be prepared to walk in single file, especially on narrow roads or in poor light
keep close to the side of the road."

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/rules...

And here:

"If, at the side of the carriageway, there are pavements (sidewalks) or suitable verges for pedestrians, pedestrians shall use them. "
"If it is not possible to use pavements (sidewalks) or verges, or if none is provided, pedestrians may walk on the carriageway;"
"Pedestrians walking on the carriageway shall keep as close as possible to the edge of the carriageway."

In any case, just because you are 'allowed' to do something doesn't make it right, or considerate. Everything that is not illegal is 'allowed' in that sense. Grown ups are expected to behave better than just marginally legally. That goes for the driver as well.

That driver has a serious problem.

I thought that was one of the better 'exposed' compilations in recent months.

Is it my perception of these videos that a lot, and i mean a lot, of the SCW actually speed up to make it look more dramatic than it was. plus
not slowing down when there was more than ample time to do so, Or, and i think i am quite close on this

They are just fking dheads that shouldn't drive

and they get sooo upset by the most trivial of things

If someone else is letting someone out, just go along with it and help too rather than making a dogs breakfast
Life is too short

Courtesy and due care for other road users?

I wish I'd had a headcam on the Camel Trail cycle track yesterday, it'd knock most of this into a cocked hat (and hi to the pistonheader who had a sticker on the back of the RS6)

6:10 what a terrible junction! Road rises over a crest and then suddenly you find yourself straight through a give-way junction colliding with other vehicles. No road side signage on the approach nor at the junction itself. WTF!
