I didn't see a pass until that Pug 206 moved out of the middle lane. And the van was weaving a bit in the outside lane.
I don't like accelerating into gaps that are likely to disappear or get narrower.
Agree 100% I'd also add you saw what the prick in the van did when he finally noticed the blue lights, braking and swerving left might not have gone well.I don't like accelerating into gaps that are likely to disappear or get narrower.
I posted many yonks ago, when it was first reported. He got off bloody lightly IMO!

He needed to hit the wall a little bit further along and then the insurance could have sorted out that appalling brick match.https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/local-news/dri...

From the article: "Drink driver drove dangerously in his Jaguar after losing control and crashing into a house"I'm not entirely convinced that's true.

I guess they're not allowed to show anything timed closer to an actual death, but it would be interesting to know the full picture of the incident.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-oxfordshi...

Were the lights changing? Was there a gap in the oncoming traffic for the lorry to use, (in which case his attention would have been on that).

If anything it demonstrates why not to park on zig zags

Not only that but it looks like the lorry is just forward of the lights and waiting for a gap in oncoming traffic.
Now I've watched it again, I'd agree that the lorry has passed the "stop" line already. This disagrees with the bbc story which says the lights turned red as he approached.Edited by saaby93 on Sunday 19th May 18:30
Obviously we can't condone any improper driving in this tragic case, but I'd like to think that if I was that pedestrian then I wouldn't have crossed at that phase. Toddlers are different of course.

Edit: I should read the links first, parked car driver done for careless driving.

Since he was past the lights and unlikely to see them change to red, pedestrians may have moved into the corner blind spot, would the case have been satisfied otherwise?

Reading that certainly made me think about it. Having to swing a lorry around the car, concentrating on that, you can begin to understand how concentration could be taken away from a light which was green as you started the maneuver. If anything it demonstrates why not to park on zig zags

Edit, just read further posts that he was over the line, maybe not able to see the signal change. Still, very selfish parking, adding a hindrance where there should be only one focus.
