He's a mlm so it is obvious he is clueless to people around him. I think he is on the spectrum as doesn't seem to acknowledge people's views.
I think you're being too kind to him. He's clueless about everything including how to drive a car.

@2:29 Holy st, hope someone got done for that lack of attention, that went very bad, very quickly.

You can see the overhead gantries flashing, I wonder if that lane was closed already.

If you're stopped on the motorway, keep distance between yourself and the car in front and watch the mirror constantly, be prepared to stuff your car in to the barrier or up the side of the car in front to protect against that sort of incident.

I can't believe the first car following just carried on.

Awful, and I hate how many drivers carry on after witnessing an incident

I suppose, for something this traumatic. But to leave people there...

Am I being unreasonable?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uApOAA6eMDU&fe...

Didn't intend to go full DCW on him, but couldn't tell if he was
a- intending to pull out behind me

or

b-simply hadn't seen me behind the pillar.

Seemed pretty close either way and I didn't want to carry 60mph into the side of him!

"Seemed pretty close"? wobble You're being unreasonable. It was clear he was waiting for you to pass then pull into a gap behind. No idea why all the anger and swearing afterwards. Perhaps work on your anticipation better, especially in light of the content in your other video uploads. wink

He was timing his move for you to go past.

Driving at 60mph it's not really something you can take for granted at the time.

I agree, appears that you started slowing before they started pulling out.

Big gap in the oncoming traffic, was there a solid line of traffic behind you? Or was it clear?

Looks like they were planning to go behind you.

I often do the same if I'm not 100% sure, difficult to tell from the cam footage but there's a feel to it sometimes that doesn't translate. Most commonly I do this on the bike, when piling into the side of someone like that would be very nasty indeed.

1.49 That is a blackspot but the first time I've actually seen a crash happen there, I wouldn't have expected it to happen in that direction though. There's a few small trees on the left and several signs, but that white car should have been able to pull up forward enough to see the other approaching. I hate pulling out from the side the white car is heading turning back the way the cam car is coming.

Yep, crazy. Traffic queues often queues onto the M5 going off at J22 northbound, queues always form on the hard shoulder (I did see two stop dead in L1 last time though, which really is insane as that clip proves) but I always keep that in mind and stay well left until a good 1/3rd up the sliproad - further up there's always multiple cars sitting millimeters from the chipped line out of L1... trucks which are often fully back over from L2 by this point and we know the stats about being on the hard shoulder...

I've never forgotten one of those trafpol shows years ago, attending an RTA and end of the traffic queue was beginning to head towards a curve behind, guess what happened while they were looping back around...

You predicted the possible collision and were ready on the brakes. He begins to move, and you slow until you're certain he isn't going to go for it.
Horn may have been unnecessary. Other than that, I think you did well. He can't hear you swearing, so that's a complete irrelevance.

He shouldn't be driving in such a way as to cause you concern. If he'd gone for it and you'd avoided, everyone would have been congratulating you.

Ah, I didn't listen with sound so I didn't hear any of that, perhaps an over reaction, although technically the correct use of the horn as an aid to bring seen.

Cheers all. Basically the van was chancing it, since it’s a busy road and whilst I think/thought he was intending to pull out behind me I couldn’t be sure... horn as others have said to warn them. It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that a car can get ‘lost” in the big a pillars...

Swearing whilst driving is completely normal... not hanging out of the window DCWing someone, just an inner expression wink
