Looks good but having 'Petrol' in every descriptions seems a bit uneccessary and flowery, The Testarossa for example could not be mistaken for a diesel!

Agree - it's obviously just PH's template which I guess is designed for numpties.

Also, how has the black 911 in the photo got an "H" plate? They were 964s by then, surely? Retro-styled / import, perhaps?
The 930 was made until 1989 & H came out in '90 - it is possible that it was a late registered car. And the early 964 Turbos were a 930 engine in the new body, plus the 964 had a staggered release - Carrera 4 first - like they do how.
Ah, OK - thanks for that.
There maybe other explanations but I'm a Porsche geek and used what I know plus a bit of common sense (dangerous I know).
Back then Porsche had a problem selling their cars, which seems incredible now. This car probably sat unregistered for 12-18 months before someone bought it. Similarly my Dad had a 964 America Roadster (the US spec of the C2 Turbo Look) which when sent to the UK was on an L plate, as that was when it was first registered; when first manufactured it would have been a J plate, but it sat unsold for nearly 2 years. A limited edition 911 that took 2 years to sell ... how times change.

The 930 had been on sales for nearly 15 years in 1989. basically unchanged for 11 years - the prices of even unloved Porsches are crazy.

Have a look at Hexagon - they've got convertible E46s in the mid to high teens. Someone must be paying these prices, not sure who or why though
Hexagon have always taken the biscuit crown.

I think they get low milers in of anything remotely interesting and then overprice them buy a jaw dropping margin.

Then they will sell at less money than advertised but still high, not tell anyone then buy another one of the same thing in but price it even higher, thus driving up the entire market.

10K for a Automatic 3 litre e46 Coupe sounds pretty adventurous - even if it is a nice colour and low miles!

Hope you get some wheel centre caps chucked in for that...
As it's one of their Cheapest cars on the site they will just catch someone out to buy it that thinks it looks cheap compared with the rest of the stock and not know it's real value
Bit like the 2002 330 Sport touring for £7995 !!

I was just thinking that, about the centre caps.

No heated seats either! Almost obligatory with leather.

And odd spec all round. Business Nav but no H/S or sunroof?

Love to know the reg to run a VZAR/88

there is another Ripley and its not down sowth!
I saw the headline and thought ‘why on earth would any open an upmarket car dealership in Ripley, of all places?’

Then I realised there must be another Ripley which isn’t a dump of an ex-mining town in Derbyshire....

All sounds like bods with a load of excess money jumping in at the top of the market because they think there's still room for more high end players.

They may well have been enthusiasts or "collectors" - doesn't mean they have experience or knowledge of the top end car business - look at the so called stock. A selection of what appears to be all the 'right cars' to have for the image they are trying to portray. Yes there are some great individual halo vehicles, those may be their own private cars, as the write up suggests.

A few posts have already suggested some of the 'stock' cars are known and have been around the block, in the trade unsold - either they've been stuffed up by their new friends in the business, or they're SOR.

Sorry to members who may think I'm cynical - I am !

I'm in the antiques trade (over 40 years) and have seen the same in our business - people coming in who have a strong interest in it, been successful in other lines of business, have plenty of spare money and think there's easy bucks to still be made at the high end. They've never lasted very long at it, being true entrepreneurs, they cut their losses and run.

It takes years to be, what they wish to be disassociated from being called - A Specialist in your field.

They've come in too late to the party if that's their 5 year plan.

Nice of PH to give them the free advertorial though - not pals of the owners of Haymarket by any chance.....?

Yip Hexagon and 4star are two dealers I browse regularly. To see some lovely metal but mostly for a right good laugh at the prices. These guys seem to have copied their business models.

In the UK, the Advertising Standards Authority (the ASA) requires that paid content is unambiguously labeled as such. And this sort of thing is true for the majority of countries where people fuss over the sanctity of the polling place and where the electorate would frown upon the disappearance or chronic misfortune of political opponents.

For example, you may have seen some posts on PH about the Ford Mustang. Although these look almost like any other article on PH, they have been clearly labeled as sponsored content. And most notably, there is no comments section after such articles (although there's no reason why PH couldn't offer comments there).

So this article about Renaissance Classics cannot be paid content -- neither paid directly nor through things like barter or patronage.

What I believe is giving rise to questions here -- and, as a non-journalist, I defer to the professionals at PH -- is that the story arc at times feels more like a press release than news reporting. We get to (briefly and only in passing) meet the people behind Renaissance Classics, but there is little examination of the category in which they work or commentary from those around them. We learn nothing new, unusual or contrary from third parties.

In a way, this is all by design, as the headline of this article is appended with the "PH Meets" moniker, indicating that this is a continuation of PH's effort to do a quick bio on various entities in and around motoring and to introduce these to its readership.

The Mini in the photo is interesting... 1994 Spi Cooper built to look like a Mk1 Cooper S, with black number plates, and a rotten rear inner arch according to its last MOT.

But I see that doesn't feature in their stock!
The article says they visited in February, so I guess it sold
It's been put through the Historics at Brooklands auction:

It’s on the site of the old Fishers Garage and the gable on the new building replicates the one on the old building! Just had the suspension on my Boxster rejigged by Renaissance. Excellent service by Porsche trained mechanic.
