Are these Vloggers just a scam? SOL or Shmee etc? (Vol 2)

Most of the young vloggers are doing the same thing- renting (either weekend rental ore short term lease) and driving cars (a little.)
There was always going to be a reason why someone living in London regularly travels up north to a car dealership. jon- said:
The one thing I do know about youtubing, it's the advice everyone gave me and I definitely still ignore - obsessing over gear gets you nowhere. Making videos get you somewhere.
Also, for those of us who travel a lot, the dslrs are a godsend. And I'm pretty sure I could shoot and grade slog3 from an A7s MkII to look identical to that on youtube
Spent the past few days filming and the cost of some of their kit is truly eye watering. Sod trying to keep up with that as it becomes outdated! (I guess that's why rental and buy-back / PX schemes are so popular?) I'll stick with a ropey old DSLR! Also, for those of us who travel a lot, the dslrs are a godsend. Good to see Dan back. Personally (as a fellow Christian motorist) I prefer cars like the Suzuki where handling is more important than big power.

Currently in Monterey and attended Quail yesterday. Bumped into Sam STG, very nice guy. Also met Parker who wasn't happy that someone from Lambo wasn't helping him with his SVJ spec lol.
I also met the crazy guy who runs around screaming at cars on rodeo, he was filming the SVJ and told me he ran around the SVJ but decided not to yell for fear of getting kicked out so instead he was going to dub the yelling during editing. The look on people's face including the suits from Lambo HQ when he was running around was priceless. He's a strange guy but whatever gets him views I guess lol.
Also attended the Lambo party last night, I was told Tim was filming earlier at the hospitality lounge/house.

I went to the Harry's Garage meet he organised last week. I was one of the youngest drivers there and the proportion of tasty metal was easily as high as at any Pistonheads meet I have been to. Very impressive stuff I have to say. Well deserved though... and it was a great morning out.
If any of the other Youtubers organised one it would likely be full of people carriers with bored parents sat in and a bunch of spotty kids trying to make their own vlog of the vloggers.

Nice to see Paul SoL finally get his LP640. Not sure that it’ll get him massive views, but always good to see someone get their dream car.
X2, enjoyed that collection video.I don't frequent his channel but he comes across as a genuine bloke who has done it all by himself, well deserved IMO.

Not a car youtuber. Reading the article it seems like he may have committed suicide?https://bbc.in/2P1Z7F8

The volume of adverts on youtube appears to have increased significantly. I normally listen to some of the videos whilst doing something else and so it's quite annoying. There are plenty of other things I can listen to without adverts (spotify, audiobooks) so I find myself switching it off more lately. I suppose they want me to buy the non advert premium service but I can live without the videos quite easily as none of them are particularly exciting anymore (chris harris ones used to be my favourite).

Definitely. I went Premium recently because i was getting two adverts back to back at the start, much greater frequency of ads at the moment. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
