No, that’s a load of old tosh that was spouted on here then repeated. They are all financed, just the same as you or I would do. They may have preferential buy back rates from someone like Redline but I’m not aware of any.
Some, not all, are on a paid for loan basis with clearly defined limitations on mileage usage and a set expectation as to publicity. On a subset of these the V5 does not reference the individual who claims “ I have bought a XXX”. Brooking10 said:

I have no idea if that's actually true, but I don't think it refers to the people that I'm close to.Shmee said:

When I first saw the Aston Martin pics I wasn't too enamoured (not that I'm looking to buy one) but it actually looks pretty good in the spec' he's chosen. Certainly looks like it'll be a great looking race car, if it isn't already?
Also looking forward to seeing footage from Dan taking his M3 to the 'Ring for the first time.

For those that have already clicked on the videos, what went on? Why were the cars confiscated? What cars were they?playalistic said:

The police in Monaco decided to combat anti social behavior during both Top Marques and the upcoming Grand Prix in May, this was announced across all of their own social media pages ahead of the event so we were well aware of it.
Of course the intention of this was to curb the burnouts, revving, racing at night, and general actions that aren't appropriate in a place like that. The problem in my eyes is that they took entirely the wrong approach because instead decided to impound anything and everything that made any noise whatsoever. For example, the silver GT2 RS was a middle-aged couple checking out of a hotel with a car full of luggage and even a dog on their way back home when the policeman heard it start and decided it was too noisy... go figure! There is also a video of a Performante literally driving in automatic normal mode along the start line around the harbour where it gets pulled over and done.
Instead, they completely missed the cars doing the actual things they wanted to stop; which to be hugely general about were AMG and M cars mostly wearing Swiss number plates. The car spotters did not help the behaviour one bit by supporting it and egging it on and are hugely to blame for this. However, a small understanding of what was actually happening could have resolved the situation in a much more pleasant way. As a result it very quickly became a rebellion against the police and escalated into something of a revolt in no time at all.
From my own experience, and not once in the last 12 months have I driven a car in Monaco other than in its quietest mode and automatic gearbox (never even a left-paddle pull to downshift), the police were horrific and out of control. On two occasions I had a policeman shout at me in Monaco and neither was I doing anything wrong at all. once in the GT3 I turned left out of a junction when a policeman told me off even though there was 100% no no-left-turn sign or anything to suggest that wasn't ok. The other I was leaving a legitimate parking space at Top Marques when he screamed I wasn't supposed to be there - which was just wrong. The problem is they have such an attitude that they won't even invite a conversation to discuss.
I firmly believe that because they approached the topic with such an attitude, they massively exacerbated the situation and fueled the fire rather than diplomatically resolving it.

Suspect it's a time choice - why spend 2 days of your holiday driving there and back when you can ship the cars there and then fly down to meet them. The drive down would only be motorways anyway, hardly the drivers' choice
You've got a great point there, why spend your time driving a car, that's not what these things are made for... sorry for my idiotic suggestions. Brooking10 said:

That’s semantics though isn’t it? I lease my main car, but I (as everyone does) say I own a vRS. I think it’s fair to say that if you’re paying for it, you’re entitled to say ‘I’ve bought an xxx’. Long term loans etc are a different matter.

You're not the first person I've heard this from, glad the AMG and ///M boys represent, wherever the cars are from Shmee said:
