Are these Vloggers just a scam? SOL or Shmee etc? (Vol 2)
Discussion
I see Mr Hamilton has just borrowed bought his SVR there.
Enjoyed Sam's breakdown of the first major service for the 360. It's great that he actually used it and isn't afraid to rack up the miles. Mr JWW's 911 sounds frickin' awesome with the new exhaust mods. I love that car and once again, great to see it being used properly.

You have to wonder given Archie’s dad is in the trade why he sources cars from Redline and not through his old man. I’d have thought it’d be good business to put it on his dad’s stock then do content with it and move it on at profit.
Have you seen the stock DH has?! Not exactly ‘let your son drive it and use it for YouTube content’ kind of cars...

Doug De Muro up to 2.1 million subs now.
His recent second channel More Doug De Muro is already up to 291k subs.
I like his videos. For the car geeks out there. The view counts are very impressive.

I watch Shmee from time to time (loved his M5 purchase).
And there is another British guy that I don't recall his name that I tend to like but its all about his Elise so he can be boring sometimes.

His dad bought him an 8C but it has never been mentioned since.
There is no doubt in my mind these youtubers are completely honest and upfront about their day to day lives.

Wow, did you even manage to watch any of that video? He said in the first 30 seconds, the 8C was his present to his subscribers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4kKm-KeOio

I want to like DDE but I really can't. Click bait titles with him moaning at local plod but will then quite happily go do donuts on the highway, consistent full throttle in built up areas and bdising that poor Huracan is a crime in itself. Recent vid with him buying a car for his wife even she looked bored.
Only a matter of time before it gets serious...it nearly got serious with his cohort Alex choihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0x2HIQTFzw

Seems like TGE and Archie have some sort of deal with Dean and Redline. From a business stand point it's brilliant because it's a dealer which wouldn't get much exposure otherwise. From companies such as Redline’s point of view, the exposure and advertising is great, having to field several hundred calls and emails each week from people giving it “I’ve got a YouTube channel with 285 subscribers and growing all the time, loan me a Ferrari and i’ll produce videos plugging your company every week”
You can see why both sides would probably rather it stayed on the QT.

I see TGE brother is now “selling” his 488 after having “bought” it from redline 7 months ago.
It’s almost as if they just lent it to him for publicity and now he has to hand it back...
Such a shame as they did so much with it. Road trips, track days etc. *It’s almost as if they just lent it to him for publicity and now he has to hand it back...
- Parked up in some random London street causing ‘chaos’.
I know this goes around and around, but honestly why do people care how/why they get their cars? Just watch the videos, enjoy the free content and if you don’t, move on. PH is constantly obsessed with how people finance things and the inner workings of their bank accounts. Baffling to me.

It's not the fact that the cars are loaners that annoys people, it is the fact that the youtuber is dishonest about how they've acquired the car (or at least dishonest through omission). It's ok to have a lifestyle vlog, but if the lifestyle is faked then that is surely discussion worthy.

I see very little difference between claiming a borrowed car is "yours", and claiming you make millions trading Forex. Both are luring viewers into a false reality, and really make me question the overall integrity of the vlogger..
Funny you should say that - Redline has an affiliation with a very vocal self appointed forex and crypto guru whose operation isn’t quite as it is portrayed . Strikes me as rather odd but no doubt I am missing something.Oh and as for the wider point I agree.

if you go back and watch one of his very first vlogs driving a 575 when he actually came across as a serious and mature young man as opposed to a complete , he discussed how he made his money and said he worked in his dad’s sale’s business which gave him access to a range of unique and rare cars that he’d be sharing on his channel. If he’d kept the original tone and content then I don’t see why his dad would have had a problem with him creating ‘Harry’s garage’ type content that would have showcased their business and helped promote the cars to the right type of buyers. I can however see why his dad wouldn’t want the business now associated with a channel aimed at hoody hoofs wrapping cars and driving round London yelling ‘mate, chaos, we’ll have that, i’ve Won’ every 15 seconds like a human soundboard. Not exactly ‘let your son drive it and use it for YouTube content’ kind of cars...

Archie is doing himself a huge dis-service, he’s never going to get taken seriously by sponsors and racing teams with the sort of nonsense he portrays - you can see the look of bemusement on any race drivers he meets.
Shame really, he had all the connections and skills to do something different with some proper race and car content but seems to have been assimilated into the Instagram narcissists club.
Is interesting how many youtube people start out as quite watchable normal people and end up collosal ego the size of the moon tossers - the price of celebrity and all those likes I guess.

I suppose it might be down to what some folk consider the definition of “their cars”? Portraying oneself as living some baller lifestyle, whilst taking the viewers along to “share the experience” might seem less appealing were you to realise it’s all nothing but contrived bks and not quite as aspirational / inspirational as maybe it first appeared? You only have to look at the “Shall I buy a gold plated Suzuki Jeep worth £££££ as my next daily” to see where the fascination with cash stems from. As you say, it’s probably best to just watch those types of channel, take them at face value and not delve too deeply. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
