Enjoyed Schmee's latest GT3 vid.

Danny and his latest 'Ring exploits are up and well worth a watch. His M3 looks awesome and he's clearly having a lot of fun on track.

Track etiquette is so much better in mainland Europe. If they allowed overtaking on both sides here it'd be a bloody nightmare! Let alone allowing bikes! Last time out at Lydden Hill, every session was spoiled by groups of locals in old shed Saxo's driving like twunts. Unfortunately, the marshals didn't appear to want to do anything about it.

Anyway, back on topic, great videos chaps.

Some, not all, are on a paid for loan basis with clearly defined limitations on mileage usage and a set expectation as to publicity. On a subset of these the V5 does not reference the individual who claims “ I have bought a XXX”.
That’s semantics though isn’t it? I lease my main car, but I (as everyone does) say I own a vRS. I think it’s fair to say that if you’re paying for it, you’re entitled to say ‘I’ve bought an xxx’.

Long term loans etc are a different matter.
Do you have a commercial arrangement with the supplier then to mention them on a social media platform in return for access to your main car ?
Whilst we are about it should also have added does you supplier pay your deposit for you and then allow you to pay only the interest on your car wink

Probably would have sent "the boys" round to the marshalls house if they tried to take them off track

Has anyone noticed a rise in 'sponsored content' on Instagram from other supercar owners?

Every third ad on my Instagram feed is now an advert and not from big brands or companies but just some guy with a Porsche or Ferrari who's paid to push his post to non-followers. They don't even have big followings, yesterday I saw one guy who was at 1,500 followers but pushing paid ads. So weird, I'll try and get a screenshot the next time it happens.

I am seeing this all the time, it is most odd, but I guess a lot of people are just experimenting and seeing how it works.

It's cheap to advertise on instagram at the moment, and everyone wants to be instafamous...

Just start filming, editing and posting. The only way to learn and improve is to practice. Your early videos will be no good and no-one will watch, but if you have something to say worth listening to, or can come up with your own content niche you'll build an audience.
This.

The most important thing to remember is that UK automotive vlogging is a saturated market, and even those with huge audiences are struggling (Tim seems to be breaking the trend thankfully.) You need to be vlogging because you love doing it, not to become a vlogger.

Also keep in mind the only new guy of recent times to have "made it" is TGE, and he has a very clear strategy and method to what he's doing. Love him or hate him, he's done very well.

It's no longer a case that you can just make great videos and people will find you, for every STG, there's another 100 people doing an equal job with no views.

Alternatively, pick a niche. I love tyres. I make videos about tyres because I love tyres and making videos. I'd still do it if no one watched them, I'm just fortunate some people do.
Can only echo this.

Make sure it something you love, and don’t worry about the views. My channel isn’t car related, and is far from huge, but we’ve got a loyal following and it has opened up a few opportunities to do things we probably wouldn’t have been able to do before which is great.

What it has really opened up is the interactions between over people who watch, people we meet at events and such like. We get tagged into so many posts it opens up our eyes to things we would never have considered before. But we don’t advertise, we make no money, just do it for a laugh (to put it in perspective, I collect trainers, we drink beer and have a laugh while talking about what we’ve picked up or what’s in our collection - it’s that niche thing mentioned previously)

Someone with very little grasp of spelling or grammar. Why on Earth would he think they would read this and then loan a brand new car? laugh

That has got to be a joke, nobody would seriously send a message like that in a serious way would they?

And he was somewhat well known (even I was aware of who he is and I don't follow fashion/fitness/etc.) before becoming a car vlogger.
He did very well at getting himself some mainstream media coverage - he’s been featured in Forbes, the Mail, the Sun, the Independent, the Evening Standard etc. Whoever does his PR did a good job at raising his profile.

I've not seen them at all, I tend to get a lot of ads for stty watches, it's all this targeted marketing stuff, Twitter kept putting ads for Russian brides on my feed at one point laugh

Thats the same as Paul Dalton when detailing took off, he may not have been the best, but he had the right marketing and was everywhere. Now companies can charge obscene amounts for products with his name on.

What a bunch of complete dick heads. The police should crush any car caught being 'driven' like that on a public road with heavy traffic around.

To keep a long story reasonably short...

The police in Monaco decided to combat anti social behavior during both Top Marques and the upcoming Grand Prix in May, this was announced across all of their own social media pages ahead of the event so we were well aware of it.

Of course the intention of this was to curb the burnouts, revving, racing at night, and general actions that aren't appropriate in a place like that. The problem in my eyes is that they took entirely the wrong approach because instead decided to impound anything and everything that made any noise whatsoever. For example, the silver GT2 RS was a middle-aged couple checking out of a hotel with a car full of luggage and even a dog on their way back home when the policeman heard it start and decided it was too noisy... go figure! There is also a video of a Performante literally driving in automatic normal mode along the start line around the harbour where it gets pulled over and done.

Instead, they completely missed the cars doing the actual things they wanted to stop; which to be hugely general about were AMG and M cars mostly wearing Swiss number plates. The car spotters did not help the behaviour one bit by supporting it and egging it on and are hugely to blame for this. However, a small understanding of what was actually happening could have resolved the situation in a much more pleasant way. As a result it very quickly became a rebellion against the police and escalated into something of a revolt in no time at all.

From my own experience, and not once in the last 12 months have I driven a car in Monaco other than in its quietest mode and automatic gearbox (never even a left-paddle pull to downshift), the police were horrific and out of control. On two occasions I had a policeman shout at me in Monaco and neither was I doing anything wrong at all. once in the GT3 I turned left out of a junction when a policeman told me off even though there was 100% no no-left-turn sign or anything to suggest that wasn't ok. The other I was leaving a legitimate parking space at Top Marques when he screamed I wasn't supposed to be there - which was just wrong. The problem is they have such an attitude that they won't even invite a conversation to discuss.

I firmly believe that because they approached the topic with such an attitude, they massively exacerbated the situation and fueled the fire rather than diplomatically resolving it.
The message appears to be, we have had enough. Take your cars elsewhere. Usual case of the idiots spoiling it for others. I love cars but have zero interest in hearing it rev’d to the redline and seeing burnouts. I don’t blame the local police. Pressure from the wealthy residents. The car caravan won’t win this one smile like travellers, they’ll find a new patch to park-up until they get moved in again

I saw a yellow 911 reversing around the M25 the other day, something about trying to wind the clocks back due to finance stipulations? Not sure if that’s true though.
