Are these Vloggers just a scam? SOL or Shmee etc? (Vol 2)

Tim, What was your motivation to get the Supra as a daily, (or a daily in the loosest sense given your workload) over an M4 for example?
Also, if you one of the first mainstream youtubers to confirm one, could that be a factor in the popularity of the upload?
Think he's answered your question in that a video has hit over 1 million views in less than 2 days. Also, if you one of the first mainstream youtubers to confirm one, could that be a factor in the popularity of the upload?
Try doing those numbers on a M4.

My understanding (which I concede could well be wrong) is that the problem arises with self promotion. If I say “I’ve made a video and it’s great”, closely followed by “Did I tell you I’ve made a great video? I’d post a link but it’s not allowed “ , then quote said link when someone else kindly posts it. Should we really be all that surprised when the mods remove it? e46m3Mark said:

Here’s the podcast video link:
Let’s see if this gets deleted or not.

But worry not, I've removed the link from this quote so I don't get the mods knickers in a twist.

Congrats Tim on the Supra. A much talked about and controversial car already. Smart move for the channel I think.
Like the car or not, the response has been remarkable. My Supra 'launch video' is the fastest growing video on my channel since the Aventador crash just under 5 years ago, having just reached 1,000,000 views in 31 hours. Even at this moment it's flowing along at 45,000 views an hour which is above the maximum spike on either the Senna of Ford GT collection day videos. As pointed out by others, the dislike ratio stands at 16.2% because it's a car with a lot of discussion, hype and controversy around it - however fairly obviously these are attractive qualities in a car to a YouTuber! I've obviously seen a lot of messages both ways with regards to this since yesterday; but the negative side surrounds the fact it's a very different car from the A80 generation and therefore how can it appeal to me as "it's just a BMW". On the flip side I've pointed out to people that I rather like BMWs and am very happy about that!

Hi Tim - would be great to see you explore the engine in the Supra vs other BMWs the B58 sits in, i.e the 440i, 240i & Z4 - it seems to sit in various states of tune for touring / hatch / sports models, with different exhaust notes and setups.
That's a great idea for a video imoSo let me get this straight - Beefy isn’t allowed to post his own video or even mention the fact that he has a new one out but he can email a trusted PH’er with a link and comment (the same comment that he might have posted himself) and that person just copies and pastes from the email into a new post and that’s OK?
Give me strength This place makes you laugh sometimes.

Are you all just guessing it was removed for that reason?
My email notification just said "forbidden content" - I posted the link, along with a comment about YT subtitles being difficult to follow.Edit to add - I emailed Beefy in the first instance to let him know about it, he wasn't emailing me first asking to repost it - just in case any of the mods still have itchy fingers on the ban hammer!!
It's an interesting video, and very relevant to this thread that gives a very good insight into the hard work and taxing logistics that go into the Shmee channel and brand - link or no link.

I did not email ashleyman. I did speak with Steve after the posts were removed (and i'll admit i did suggest he repost, but he said no).Give me strength This place makes you laugh sometimes.
So let's not go around making accusations please.
Do car gurus fund a youtube channel? I'm failing to see what damage posting youtube links has? Posting links to autotrader adverts would surely be more damaging?
The passing around of youtube content is vital on this and many forums. Imagine never hearing about the new Binky or Megane rollover crash at the ring?

I find it wierd that McLaren went to such great lengths to stop Salo buying a Senna, then when he finally bought one it magically burst into flames.
Almost like they predicted that.
Which would mean it isn't an accident. Maybe he has a rep?
As for Tim Schmee you should do yourself a favor and cancel the Z4 and buy a low mileage, manual, Mk4 supra TT with some sensible modifications. Great cars.

This seems a bit tinfoil hat brigade to me, McLaren somehow knew that if he get one it would burst into flames so refused to sell him one?Almost like they predicted that.

Other than not allocating him one what other great lengths did they go to?

Interestingly this part could spell an end to sharing video clips in the YouTube threads, Vlogger, Bad driving threads etc... as we don't own that content.
Is that not covered by Youtube's T&C, in that they allow you to link to their content from external sites? The whole internet would die if you could only post stuff that you actually legally owned the physical rights to publish.PH said:
you own and/or control all of the rights to the Content that you post or otherwise distribute, or you otherwise have the lawful right to post and distribute such Content to or through the Site, and to grant the licenses granted herein;
Youtube Terms Rights You License said:
to each user of the Service, a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to access your Content through the Service, and to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display and perform such Content to the extent permitted by the functionality of the Service and under these Terms.
So yes, YouTube give you the license to distribute and share the content. However, YouTube do not give you a license to agree to the PistonHeads T&C that says:PH said:
you own and/or control all of the rights to the Content that you post or otherwise distribute, or you otherwise have the lawful right to post and distribute such Content to or through the Site, and to grant the licenses granted herein;
YouTube said:
Point 5.1M You shall not copy, reproduce, distribute, transmit, broadcast, display, sell, license, or otherwise exploit any Content for any other purposes without the prior written consent of YouTube or the respective licensors of the Content.
So, yes we can share videos, yes YouTube allow this, but technically NOT to PH as we don't have the right to grant PH the license they require in their T&C. So, thats a bit different as per the rules you can't self promote by posting video links BUT it now also seems like we can't post videos made by other people as that also violates the rules.
As to why Beefs post was deleted, weird but he didn't post the link, he commented on it. He did not email me.
I have posted the link to the same video and now 24 hours later, it's still up which makes it at the very least inconsistent.

Yes. CarGuru have a YouTube channel. I'd imagine any review, impressions, driving videos from people who are looking to sell or review cars will be deemed competition. The passing around of youtube content is vital on this and many forums. Interesting times when Shmee can get a Ford GT, Senna and now a Supra within 3 weeks of each other and these two throbbers have to combine to get a new Jimny.
The gulf is widening by the day.
'Tis the world we live in now. Capitalism, where people who work hard reap the rewards and the losers do nothing but moan about it.The gulf is widening by the day.
It is a bit ridiculous though, really. The money gap thing. Doesnt seem sustainable.
Still, I bet TGE are having a right laugh with that Jimny.
