On a separate note, this channel looks promising.

That looks great, hope it takes off. Subscribed.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO3nCt4BU8_TkJ88s...
I am not one to get jealous and whilst I understand some youtubers might not be to my taste or others, I do value and respect those that have worked extremely hard to do so, e.g. TGE, JayEmm, Ricky from livinglifefast, Calvin's car diary etc
The one's that really annoy me are the silver spoon youtubers that won't admit it that they come from money and then pass it off as their own hard work, I won't name them but there is one 19 year old youtuber who bought a brand new VW Golf R with cash and he says he saved up for it....
Sure mate we believe you... By the way who's 458 is that parked in your garage?

If it’s the YouTuber I’m thinking of. He’s mentioned the Ferrari belongs to his dad. I need some advice, so here's a question for all.
This year I plan to buy a car for track work to make some track day specific videos, such as track day tyre testing, "does a massive wing really make a difference?", suspension setup, tyre pressure tuning etc.
Obvious requirements are RWD, and at least some power. Budget up to around £25k, but the less the better.
Current short list are.
1) £25k S2 Lotus Exige. Pros - it's a lotus exige and will look great on the channel, cons - it's at the top of the budget and limited tyre size choices, can't fit spare wheels in it
2) £12k 987 Porsche Cayman - Pros - it's a cayman so well balanced - cons, it will most likely explode (but savings will offset), it looks pretty dated, can't fit spare wheels in it
3) £12k e92 M3 and strip it - Pros - that V8, well balanced car, can fit a second set of wheels in it, should be reliable, can test 17-20 inch tyres - cons, even stripped you can't get them much under 1,400kgs, I will trash any value in it stripping it
4) £7k SW20 MR2 Turbo - Pros - had one before, wicked fast, reasonable wheel range (16 to 18 inches) - cons - look pretty chavvy
Thoughts? Anything else I've missed?

I've actually just put a deposit down on a second e92 M3 so the build diary starts First up, I'll strip it out and put a decent seat with mount in and see how much time that saves. I've got time booked in at MIRA so I can do the testing properly

Will you be declaring costs involved? I only ask as quite often people don't seem to appreciate just how expensive modifying (or even just maintaining!) M cars can be, as I'm sure you know.

Cost episodes are the most clickbaity of all episodes, I'd feel I'd have to quit youtube if I missed that one out
Not sure if you have seen Evolves latest video on the M5 super sprint exhaust but that is how you do comparison and test videos. https://youtu.be/YE8t55_dfYoYou do quite well with tyres compared to others but it was refreshing to see such a well presented video on the exhaust that puts merit to the claims the manufacturer makes.
Might be worth doing something similar with your car before you even touch it so you've got a baseline and you can then work from there.
I'm sure like others, if a test isn't conducted properly or there's flaws or missing information then one won't bother watching a series.

"MY M3 COST ME £££££££!!!!!111!!!!"Complete with a thumbnail of you standing in front of the car, shocked look on your face, possibly hands on head, and some money emojis around you.

As a tyre tester, we're use to looking for tiny differences between tyres. As the differences can be so small, we have to calculate a lot more into a test than most.
For example if doing a group tyre test, for dry braking we will run each tyre around 8 times on EXACTLY the same bit of surface, braking at exactly the same point. We then delete outliers (ABS can play games sometimes), and average the 4-5 best runs. Every third or fourth tyre pattern we run a control tyre, which allows us to calculate changes in the surface grip (which changes with surface temperature and rubber down) and the change in the cars braking systems, along with any driver changes for handling laps. This means for a 10 tyre pattern tyre test, we can be doing 140 braking runs with the control at the start and end, which can take a full day.
I'll be using these detailed testing methodology for any car changes too where possible, which is above and beyond any one else I've seen, but if you have any suggestion to get from "quite well" to "very well" I'd more than welcome them as I'm always looking to improve

You always see tuners saying our tune gives X and then you find the car is also running Tune + X Y and Z and not just stock vs Tune.
Fully appreciate your tyre background and like your tests, I'm just saying please please please carry that forward into non tyre related videos if you end up doing them!

Don't worry, that sort of stuff gives me nightmares! I'm overly anal about everything, eg I'm buying corner weight scales just so I can measure the cars weight as I'm heading out onto circuit before each stage of reduction, and not just guess what the car weights based on what I've taken out and fluid levels etc. It's exact or nothing! Also if you've ever been interested in quattro vs xdrive, but angry at the terrible testing methodology of the current videos on youtube, you'll like what I'm up to next week too
Great video Mr Shmee: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pfJhYeIiXw - we still know it's your dads money
Some seriously salty people on here, Paul's clearly messing with the Exhaust Expert bit, he's just a fan of loud cars. And MrJWW's Modern Classics stuff has been brilliant and his MVN stuff has been interesting and informative all while his new child has just arrived. Sam's been knocking out amazing Drive the World content. Some people really have nothing better to do than moan at all the free awesome youtube content we're getting right now, they need to sit in a dark room and have a word with themselves.
