It was a hell of a review though, watching the part when he was sat in the car with Jay Leno driving you could tell by the look on his face he couldn’t quite believe it.
You could tell he couldn't believe it and loved it all at the same time, brilliant video.

I half expected him to say his usual line "First I'll show you all the quirks and features and then I'll take it out for a test drive", completely understand why Jay had to drive given the value of F1s now!

Tim, your video today with the lap comparisons was very good too!

They're children and they're acting like it.

Glad I don't waste my time watching their videos.
And looking at the content they're pushing out I suspect most of their audience is around 14 years and younger. Excessive speeding in residential areas, doing burn outs on public roads and berating cops surely can't appeal to adults.

There was 3 of us. All I did was the rambling bks on camera and drive where I was told. All the skill and talent came from the other 2 guys. Tom (who did the lions share of the editing) does a lot of stuff with Sid and we have some M3 related stuff loosely pencilled in for later this year. I'm aiming for the fat, bald and middle aged demographic!

So just 2 guys behind the camera did all that?

I would have thought it would be like a mini movie operation with several people behind the camera, which would be the reason most other channels are just people talking to their phones or gopros. So I guess the other channels are just being lazy then.

I expect there were some insurance issues with him driving that car laugh

I've not seen the video in question but Petrolicious excel at the edit.

They do 'TV' things like voiceover, proper colour grading etc... that a lot of the other channels don't do. The actual filming and camerawork isn't so different to others but it's how they piece it together. Also, looking at the visuals I'd say they are using proper cameras and lenses rather than small point and shoots. It's all those little things that come together that put them up there.

I think Doug said he's insured to drive anything up to $10m, so nowhere near enough to be able to drive an F1!

I'd have been just as happy as him in the passenger seat to be honest, driving something of that value that isn't yours means you'll probably worry more than enjoy it...

Has anyone noticed the difference in content across the pond?

Here in the UK it tends to be about brand new cars whilst in the USA there is a lot more of buying a shed or a previously damaged or stolen car and documenting the repair process.

I quite like seeing the latter and it's a shame that nobody on YouTube is doing it in the UK. Maybe this is to do with a lack of parking and general lack of space to store/work on a car?
Im actually going to be doing this on a tiny scale soon, Ive picked up a rotten ready for scrap EK Civic & going to be doing a build series on it, the plan is not to post it until the car is finished so i can post the videos daily all the way through the process, even if it does take 6 months to do. Hopefully the plan works out, although I dont have a popular channel, id enjoy filming & editing so i have no issues doing it & Should be a great learning experience

In fairness, it's not actually Petrolicious doing the editing etc in a good number of their videos. They engage with some extremely talented individuals (as was the case with the 2 guys who made the film relating to my M3) and it's they that are responsible for the quality of production / edit.
