Be interesting how he copes if Archie Hamilton gets his racing career going again ?
It seems like he's started to get some traction again as he's driving the No. 1 VIP car in the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY in Paris later this month. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on. Hopefully well as it'll be good to watch the journey up for sure!

Yeah that was my point .

Most tge videos are him taking the piss out of archie , the dynamic changes if archie's racing career restarts .

This still baffles me, why don't the likes of SOL and TGE just go for a drive (not some congested road in the middle of the day). I assume they have the funds to put themselves up in nice hotels in/around UK or European driving roads. I have never driven in the SE of England, but I take it mainland Europe is quite easy to get to from where they are based.

But what would the narrative be? You've seen the lukewarm reception drive the world has been for STG.

Why would I watch someone take a holiday. Unless it's a challenge or has obstacles in the way.... I can drive to Monaco what does driving a luxury car add to that?

Currently his narrative is about showing off and giving a peek of events most people won't ever get to see.

These are highs of the channel so filler is applied (alot of it). I think Tom when doing watches and fitness (being serious Tom) is more appealing but probably not someone half my age who sees this as aspirational and laps up the do I don't I vibe.... (Because you know hes already decided)
I don't mean a holiday report, I mean just enjoy the cars, do some of the Alpine passes or Highlands. Let people know how they are to drive out on some nice roads. Enjoying a supercar on some of great roads, spectacular views and the noise bouncing off the mountains is also something that is aspirational (to me anyway). Probably costs less than a Topaz colour change too.

I guess though the narrative of showing off is what the target audience want though.

Would be good to see some of the supercar owners actually taking tuition and learning to drive them at speed and competently. Everyone loves supercars being given a good caning!

Shmee with a great coach at MB World

https://youtu.be/a-YWMA-76Uo

For the video to be successful it needed both a dramatic title and the context of Tim buying his GTR.

Latest TGE video roundup; dissed a few cars, bragged about the cars he owns, more yapping about his SVJ which he was supposedly going to spec at the Lambo factory in Jan, more yaps about if he should keep his SV and non existent SVJ and finally at the end he claims he loves the SVJ after a short drive on the track??? So you're buying such an expensive car but you don't really like it??

His uploads and ig post gives me the impression of a really insecure man who wants to play with the big boys but can't. Just be yourself Tom, you got a lot to offer but your useless drivel and dissing manufacturers is getting really old with every video.
Or alternatively do something interesting with your cars like drive them.
I'm not a big fan of fan of the TGE videos, but the one when where he talked about his life was interesting. He clearly doesn't have the time to make the big production videos those here want to see and nor does he need to, since he does very well for someone where it's just one string of his bow. When you're trying to invest time into new companies and have a full time job there really isn't the time to plan, execute and produce top-quality content so vlog style videos and those where a manufacturer or company organises the event are a lot less time consuming.

It's not something that appeals to me, but I respect his hustle.

Depression
Hi chap, struggling to understand why you do this to yourself. You freely admit you have a problem with absorbing negative comments but you put yourself out there on a platform that guarantees you're going to get negative comments, (and to be honest what I've read isn't that negative compared to some of the hateful bile posted out there on a regular basis to others).

To me repeating this cycle KNOWING it is going to affect you seems as ridiculous as knowing you're allergic to bees then sticking your hand in a bee hive.

Surely there has to be a better way? With the best will in the world the climate on the forum/youtube etc isn't going to change so it's going to be down to you to adapt. Perhaps you should consider stepping back from reading comments on here & on videos you post in order to end the vicious circle repeating itself? It might not be a perfect solution as I'm sure you enjoy reading the positive feedback/comments but in the absence of a better solution (counselling?) I would urge you to seriously consider it for your own health.
I think this is just common in people who do put themselves out there, especially in the modern climate of likes and shares. Very odd times, IMO, with just how much feedback/comments you can receive on something you personally spend a few hours preparing to share.

I sometimes think what would this be like 20 years ago? Well obviously it wouldn't, because it's all new. The "content creators" that I've personally been close with all share anxiety/depression traits. There are ways of dealing with it, but getting on with it is about all you can do. We all see life from our own perspectives, you can't go expecting people to wrap you in cotton buds and only sing praises.

I have thoughts quite often of sacking off all the social media, but Mansell's tash makes a good point and it's one that I've tried to keep at the front of my mind recently- it's up to you to adapt and overcome, or nothing will change. Step by step, or try to flick the switch... Get involved and embrace it. /ramble

I can understand peoples view regarding some of the driving, but I also quite like his videos as I find the content of the cars more interesting with how different people have tuned them etc rather than the exact same new press car that gets passed around all the other tubers.
Must admit I find the whole 'YT'ers press car club' a bit tedious. Multiple videos blowing smoke up the same manufacturers or slating those that don't appear to want to play the game. I prefer the more attainable or left field car choices anyway and super cars have never been my thing but that's just subjective I guess?

I've been watching a lot of the smaller channels lately (Aaron Unknown, Vehicle Villains) and good to see Dan and Adam still making interesting stuff.

Watched/listened to the BOTB Podcast with Shmee last night, very interesting.

I'm not a Shmee regular (shmeldom watch his videos) but his work ethic is fantastic, very well deserved.
Agree with this, and here's the link.

For the vloggers it’s almost a catch 22 .

You can either say fk it and film exactly the content you want and if people don’t like it so be it or go the other way constantly changing to please the viewers despite not actually making the films you want to make.

I think it all depends on whether they are trying to do it for a living or it's just a bit of fun.

I like Dan's approach, if you dont like it you know how to unsubscribe and watch something else but it's just a bit of fun on the side. Whereas Shmee endlessly analyses the data to ensure he's making the best content for the current algorythm to get the best possible viewing figures.

For some reason I was rewatching some Dan's old vlogs when he bought the Volvo, E36 Touring & K20 MR2 before he bought it, no idea why but I enjoyed them again.

For what its worth, the videos I make of my M3 being driven on track consistently perform poorly. I have historically done a couple of videos of a car being driven spiritedly on the road, and they also do not do well. I don't have the time or resources to make a Carfection style video, as much as the cameraman in me would love to YT economics means it isn't easy or wise.

Meanwhile I had a massive hit with my video on the Audi A2 - which performed far better than MrJWW's content on the R8 (both new and old).

Obviously there is a market out there for niche and inexpensive stuff, but it is incredibly hard to predict what will find an audience. I have another video coming out on Thursday that I hope may have some success but I am not holding my breath.

Our company gets invites to most of the launches for any of the new models form most of the big manufacturers, and although they are predominately aimed at fleet purchasers, there's occasionally somebody wandering about, talking into a camera held on an outstretched arm.
I guess the typical Shmee/Sol/LLF/STG subscriber won't be particularly interested in the new Ford Focus Active, but there is clearly demand from the "normal" car buying public to see a hands-on experience or detailed walk-around.

From what Tim has alluded to in the past though, an off-topic upload on his channel could have a negative impact on the algorithm that affects his whole channel and business model.

It's all quite strange but i think it's down to the promotion and algorithms. My best to date was my review of the 718 boxster but I think that was because YT decided to push it. Most real people prefer my simple NC500 tour videos.

Youtube just doesn't randomly decide to push something, it looks at an awful lot of signals and then pushes / ranks accordingly.

In the most annoying youtube fail of recent times, my "top 11 tyres of 2018" is STILL getting more views than my "Top 14 tyres of 2019" video.

Any recommendations for decent/quality YT channels which don't include, "look at what I have bought" or "did I really buy this" or "should I buy this" or "guess what car I've bought" or "why I'm selling my 'fleet' because it nearly set me on fire" or "I should have bought a house but bought a supercar" and of course excluding those with annoying overly enthusiastic voices.
Mighty car mods

Aussie but brilliant

Check out their feature length trip to japan at xmas called temples and turbos 2 i think, epic - the supercharger whine / turbo dump is one of the coolest things ive heard

Drive the world though has been handled quite poorly. Take Australia for example - the car should have featured on the great ocean road, the great alpine road and Stuart highway derestricted section - could have stayed underground at cober peddy and taken a pit stop for filming at Uluru for example, or stay over at Philip island where there’s a circuit and the penguin parade

All I saw was a car museum and a Porsche specialist, there was no feel for driving down under, so I tuned out
