I think the battle between those 2 cars is great, picking what seems to be one of the busiest TF days of the year may not seem like the greatest idea but it's all legal. A few sections of the lambo kicking up dirt might be showing that perhaps they pushing a little too hard for my liking, I'd much prefer a track day. I wouldn't have done the same and just watching it made me feel sweaty palmed but they clearly know the track and have the skill to pull it off.
There was the classic E36 battle in 2017 (?) where they were posting times as low as 7.20 during TF, this was when the Ring reinforced the no timing rules as they took a dim view of it. I saw last night that Danny has done a 7:58 in his MRS during a track day, I'm guessing that's BTG?
I would love to go to the Ring one day but I would prefer a track day over TF, although would give TF a try for a lap or 2 after maybe getting some instruction at a track day first.
As for the Senna lap, Shmee I salute you. I've watched that video more than once, it's flying on Misha's channel. Taking both the Senna and the GT out during TF on the busiest days of the year takes some balls. It might be a 6/10ths type of lap but that's still a hell of a lot faster than most stuff at 10/10ths. Very interesting (and predictable) that the Senna could quite easily munch the Pista.
There's not a great deal of difference on the 'Ring between a trackday and a TF day, except obviously you don't get the much slower moving traffic and more often than not you get to drive the GP Circuit. There is less traffic than on something like a bank holiday but you still get the huge gap in talent and therefore levels of pace. I saw Dannys friend (@white_mrk) also posted a 7.46, also in an MR2; so like I said I don't think it's unheard of for people to go sub-8 on a TF day. There was the classic E36 battle in 2017 (?) where they were posting times as low as 7.20 during TF, this was when the Ring reinforced the no timing rules as they took a dim view of it. I only tended to hear 'rig' being used in the Forces, weird how words end up catching on into the civvie world after a year or two.
For what it's worth, that Senna/Pista lap is quite confusing because it's actually an amalgamation of two laps, but the second (which is most of what you see in the video, excluding the stop at Breidscheid) was sub-8 BTG despite being nothing near the limits; I honestly think the Senna would be able to put in a stonking time with no effort. I want to book it on a trackday at the Ring to see what it can really do. It's booked at Spa in early June so will look to take it back to the Ring afterwards.

The recent JWW video with the guy from Coldplay's collection just showed the youtuber up as the most disinterested person. There he was, faced with massively historical metal and he had nothing to say, no questions to ask, not even much of an attempt to carry a conversation or even elicit any further details about the cars from their enthusiastic owner who you could tell just wanted to share the details and the stories...
The collection wasn't filled with new and shiny so this particular guy just wasn't interested. Such a wasted opportunity.
I was wondering where the Ginetta G12 was - it would have fitted right into that collection - but any hope of any such questioning was a pie dream.
Tried to watch that video but I just couldn't stay interested, JWW really dragged it down like you sayThe collection wasn't filled with new and shiny so this particular guy just wasn't interested. Such a wasted opportunity.

I've seen Misha there at 8/9am midweek and the car park is empty so that's probably the best time to go as you'll near enough have it to yourself. I only tended to hear 'rig' being used in the Forces, weird how words end up catching on into the civvie world after a year or two.
I wish my MR2 could do a 7:46 or a sub 8 but it's a long way off that, not to mention I've never been to the 'Ring. Our wide selection of UK tracks are still good fun so I'm enjoying those at the moment. I will get to the 'Ring at some point, even if it's just for 1 lap to tick the box and to dribble over the metal in the car park. Booked to go to one of my favourate tracks, Castle Combe, on Friday which is always a good fun.

Cadwell is well worth a visit in the UK for a sample of how the 'Ring drives (very little run-off etc).
I might have missed this but anyone applied?

It really frustrates me that they have no interest in the classics. I understand that you can't force someone to be interested in something but it is a shame when I see them in a garage and there'll be a 1960s/1970s car in the background and they just skip over it to film ANOTHER Porsche 911 from 2019.
The closest I ever saw was Shmee and driving the Gullwing which was super cool.

I could see that, used to work with the Aussies a fair bit so natural that words like that end up spreading. Edited by e46m3Mark on Wednesday 24th April 21:35
