Are these Vloggers just a scam? SOL or Shmee etc? (Vol 2)

As an extremely beginner drifter me and my mates were pretty excited about SOL's drift series but for us it missed the mark when he uploaded a video titled 'my new drift car' or something like that, then unveiled a new C63s
The guy doesn't have a clue what direction he should go and is quite frankly embarrassing himself now I feel
I suspect we might be turning a corner with the 'top' UK 'tubers'. They can't all be a huge success and to be honest, they're a novelty. Watching the endless flipping of new metal is akin to the transient and pointless nature of social media, and so longevity is something that needs very careful management and planning by those with an eye on the future. You're right, Paul's little corner of the market has plateau'd to the point where most of us are simply waiting to hear his Lambo's exhaust... and then moving on. I respect tried and tested opinion by those who've been there and done that (Harris/Catchpole/Smith&Sniff), and know that every time I choose to watch something, I won't get that time back, before I return to the real world rather than the virtual one. Re JWW, well he's had a charmed business life and married into the Cooper dynasty and Tim is of the Burton family retail empire prior to Arcadia, hence they don't have to ensure their content is absolutely relevant and beautfully presented to earn a crust. Paul has to choose the correct direction or partnership to maintain subscribers. The guy doesn't have a clue what direction he should go and is quite frankly embarrassing himself now I feel

To be fair to Tim, while I'm not a fan of his content I am a fan of his work ethic. I don't think if he was a rich as you claim he would be frantically jetting / driving / filming / financing for the sheer fun of it. mel_b_yabstardsya said:

It's been a while since this was brought up. It's not true, by the way. Confirmed by Tim many times. In fairness the issues facing vloggers at all levels are the same TV shows used to face.
You have a formula, it works, the show becomes successful. But over time people can lose interest if it becomes repetitive.
How do you stay relevant? Do you try and radically change what you do, or just make small tweaks? If you change the formula, you risk alienating the existing audience.
We live in an age where people have very short attention spans.

everything has a life span though , what happens when people just decide they actually prefer doing stuff rather than watching other people ?You have a formula, it works, the show becomes successful. But over time people can lose interest if it becomes repetitive.

Ask every sports industry ever? Truthfully that will never be the case, people in the youtube game come and go as new more exciting people come along, only those that really play the game with the way youtube works and strives to keep growing stay relevant. Of course they're not vloggers and yet MightyCarMods have been going for 10 years now, people watch their content even if they work on their own cars and do even more crazy and exciting things in their real life than they're going to see by watching MCM but they keep returning because they've got to know the guys at MCM and they like their personalities. Personally I find pretty much all strictly vlogger car guys on youtube totally void of that personality, it's far more interesting to watch someone achieve a goal be it in their skills or on a project than it is for them to be showcasing some new car that's as bland as the rest or telling me about their boring life.
I love Matt Farah as a car reviewer but watching him review a brand new totally OEM Ferrari is dull as ditch water, but watching him review some guy's home made project car that might only have 150hp is great fun, that's where his personality really shines.

This video springs to mind. Very raw, very simple. Big vote for Mighty Car Mods, Been watching since their first video which iirc was about budget pimping your carTruthfully that will never be the case, people in the youtube game come and go as new more exciting people come along, only those that really play the game with the way youtube works and strives to keep growing stay relevant. I find myself watching 2 channels in the main,
The Car Guys , as the do give honest views see Bentley Conti GT. a bit too much Beanage sometimes, but generally good.
Harry’s Garage is also great as he has a wide range of cars and does use them. You have to realise that he’s an ex Jag man and therefore very pro jag.
Rest of them not bothered by, did see some muppets unveiling blue Ferrari with yellow strips on awful yellow headlights, just shows money doesn’t equate to class or taste.
