600 miles in 16 months on the SV that is pitiful and most of that trundling around in London traffic...what a waste of time and money give those cars have dropped close to 100k in that time...hope the YouTube dollars covered the deprec!
Imagine buying a Lamborghini, wrapping it in cling film and glueing on some overpriced body kit at the same time. Mind you, aren't we supposed to have lived the experience through the eyes of the video makers anyway? That said, if it makes them happy where's the harm? I'm just not sure we need another video where they bleat on about how much it's cost them? Thanks Angry Dog, getting that one was a real win for me - it is unbelievably hard to create genuinely original stuff in the car world.
And yeah the whole blanking face bit winds me right up too, but I like to think that by driving in a more sensible manner gets me opportunities that others might not. Almost all of us have done silly things on the road, and most of us probably still like to let our hair down from time to time, but I have no interest in posting evidence for the prosecution online!
I've been offered some incredible machinery, very often with the phrase "you're the only YTer I would let drive" - which I am always very proud of. It also helps when you do start working with manufacturers and particularly heritage fleet stuff - some of the cars I have driven are genuinely irreplaceable.

Related to the often repeated point about how influencers by and large only say positive things because they want to be invited back, Chris Harris and Dickie Meaden were talking about this on the latest Collecting Cars podcast (episode 7).
Chris seems to reckon the time for this will come to an end and soon they'll have to start being more honest, as people want to know what the cars are actually like. There was also an interesting point about how he'd feel guilty for effectively lying to people, and would rather be honest to someone who's actually putting their own money in to buying a car and deal with upsetting the PR/marketing people at the car company than the other way round.
In an interesting twist, Sam of Seen Through Glass is the guest on the latest episode.Chris seems to reckon the time for this will come to an end and soon they'll have to start being more honest, as people want to know what the cars are actually like. Harrys Garage and Henry Catchpole on Carfection are also the others I watch. I sometimes watch Tavarish but I find him far to excitable and a touch loud.

He's lost nowhere near 100k in depreciation, more like 20k.The Li-ion King said:
It is how the other half live. Talking of dealerships, I have not seen Tony from Gravelwood in many of Archie Hamilton's videos of late, or even Sam from Seen Through Glass dropping in for a chat.
Tony was in Archies video a few hours before you posted this commentRobDown said:
Except he didn’t even buy it from Redline...
I would imagine the reason for it being sold through Redline is because Tom doesnt want to sell the car directly to the other person in case of come backs etc. I did it for 2 friends with a 911. Friend A wanted to sell his 911 and Friend B wanted to buy it but FA was worried that if there was an issue with the car in the future it would sour their relationship so Friend A gave me the car, We checked it over, serviced it, had it detailed & put a 12 month warranty on it then sold it to FB.
Also, these theories about dealers giving out 'leases' to influencers are aboslute BS. The way it would work is you put down 10-15% deposit on a normal HP agreement (possibly a balloon HP) and run it for 12 months then after 12 months you sell it back to the dealer you bought it from and unless the values have absolutely tanked you can usually get most of the deposit back out from the difference between selling price and settlement amount, worst case scenario would be you lose the deposit. No different to someone buying a Huracan for £140k with cash and then selling it on 12 months later and getting £125k back for it.

Such as? I’ve not seen many of your classic car videos
Some are not necessarily cars which you might consider remarkable, but are precious to their owners (we can all relate).I'm also very lucky to be working with manufacturers *at all* considering the size of the channel.
Some of my favourite older cars to review have been the Maestro Van (genuinely!), the NSX, RX-7, Model T, old Peugeot Truck, Venturi, The TVRs, Alpine - it is a very eclectic list.
I also have offers of some seriously nice classics to drive which I will hopefully be doing soon, although one never likes to count their videos before they've hatched.

If you havent his nitro prius is funny to watch the minute he presses the button
Will check out Catchpole - love Harrys stuff. His detailed run throughs are great.
Yeah i thought id hate Tavarish but hes warming to me. His Murcis a right shed
Hoovie is entertaining, even though his videos seem to have a slow nature to them but he is very popular.
There still seems to be a large gulf between the US Youtubers and the UK Youtubers in terms of viewing figures. The US guys seem to easily get more views whereas some the long standing UK guys are still only getting moderate viewing numbers in comparison.
The only UK car channel to challenge the US guys on numbers is Tim with views regularly at 250k+ per video, none of the other UK guys seem to be able to get close to this on a regular basis.
Is it simply because the US guys have a much bigger market, even though they're putting out similar stuff with a similar audience?

Exactly this!Perhaps importing American cars? I reckon a video on importing a F150 Raptor into the UK and driving it down narrow roads in villages and cities would get views

As much as this is a trip( jolly) of a lifetime for Tim, I also think it is a very astute business move. It'll be interesting see how his subs and views increase over the next few weeks, and if he can share any insight into where the growth has come from.

So TGE lives in London. And has sold his SV to a guy who contacted him directly. And the guy he sold it to lives in London.
So why did they both need to travel to Redline in Yorkshire to hand the car over, and why do it at Redline at all if it was a private sale between the two?
Cos new guy wanted it financed and bought through redline, new guy is you tube influenza wannabe so getting on the redline treadmill helps too. So why did they both need to travel to Redline in Yorkshire to hand the car over, and why do it at Redline at all if it was a private sale between the two?
Redline get vid and exposure, and likely supply toms new car
