Are these Vloggers just a scam? SOL or Shmee etc? (Vol 2)

I wouldn't even put Tim/Shmee in the influencer category. You don't see him flying around to every press event blagging on about how the latest Kia estate car is the best car ever and perfect because it has a cubby box big enough a phone that you can buy with his super special discount code, and it's plain to see how hard he's worked (and still working) to grow his brand.
I think it's quite sad that Chris has beef with Tim for whatever reason though. Tim has said many times in the past that he doesn't class himself as a journalist so it's not as though he'll be treading on Chris' toes there.
Thing is Chris hasn’t even called out shmee or even aimed it at him as Tim says he wasn’t even there but that bell end shmarc has taken it upon himself to make it about the shmee brand!I think it's quite sad that Chris has beef with Tim for whatever reason though. Tim has said many times in the past that he doesn't class himself as a journalist so it's not as though he'll be treading on Chris' toes there.
For what it’s worth I don’t see Tim on the same level as his fellow you tubers anymore he’s literally 5-6 levels above them!
Sol seems dead on his arse
Don’t like Archie he seems like an excited puppy that’s been asked to play
Tge has an attitude but it clearly works for him
Seen through glass has sort of elevated himself above the others too but not to Tim’s level
If you listen to Chris’s podcasts especially the one with Sam he tells you how he feels about influencers and how he doesn’t think it’s sustainable and the finance implications, why shmee/shmarc have felt it’s s dig at them though I’m quite puzzled

This is why I like watching JayEmm. Other than the fact he is a thoroughly decent bloke, he doesn't do the click bait st, he delivers his content with through and in a calm manner. He can get a bit excited, but we want that, that shows enjoyment and passion. I don't want that all of the time as it feels forced and fake.
I haven't watched any of Tim's videos and I have ceased to watch top gear, so cannot comment, but I think there is room for both types. Chris has been in the game since old money. Tim and the current social media are new money. It is just the way it is.
Just out of curiosity, any reason why you haven't watched any of Tim's videos? I mean, he's been around way longer than JayEmm whom you've watched so you do watch YouTube videos so I'm surprised you haven't watched Tim's out of curiosity but obviously clicked on JayEmm's videos for car content. Lost interest on top gear also since Clarkson & Co left unfortunately. Watched a bit of the new series but just don't get the same excitement from it anymore. JayEmm's stuff i do watch and "The Car Guys" who I'm surprised don't get a mention here. They do produce some very good stuff with plenty of variety around modern and classic cars.I haven't watched any of Tim's videos and I have ceased to watch top gear, so cannot comment, but I think there is room for both types. She is annoyingly terrible, and not the prettiest face neither.
But 2 million subscribers sad lonely men.
Chris Harris is bitter because no one outside of the UK knows about him and no one cares for watching his reviews hence why manufacturers don't find the need to provide him cars for reviews. YT and social media have major clout and old school journalists like CH are a dying breed.
Speaking of influence, I was in Quail on Friday and attended the Lamborghini launch party and guess who was getting vip treatment at the lounge? Supercar blonde. I don't agree with an influencer getting vip treatment whilst owners get shoved in the corner but its the way things are.

In the case of Supercars of London, yes... only because it's thirsty work runnung an aging Lamborghini up and down Hatfield Tunnel
I do enjoy HubNut videos for balance, looking at cars from all eras, some as far back as the NSU Ro80 (1967?)... I even ended up watching a guy change the suspension compressor on an X5 and show a useful hack... the silica gel dessicant beads get overwhelmed with moisture over time causing it to malfunction (common fault) changing the beads is a lot better than shelling out a grand for another compressor from BMW
There's great content elsewhere with guys who rebuild wrecked supercars, so there's hope for YouTube yet Archie Hamilton showed promise with track days, plus his (short lived) race in Paris earlier this year, before reverting back to the cycle of churn - ask audience to choose car - mooch around Redline - buy car - update on A35 which will be replaced by A45 - buy car and reveal day at Redline - wrap - modify - sell... he seems to be sponsored by 11° clothing, but doesn't push as much merch as his mate TGE.
As TGE has explained these are ways to make extra money after work... a lot must go into making, editing, uploading content almost 3 times a week for some, but it's interesting to see how the other half live. Content has to be interesting for the young generation to follow, due to shorter attention spans
Indeed! It’s the current rinse-n-repeat influencer methodology.I do enjoy HubNut videos for balance, looking at cars from all eras, some as far back as the NSU Ro80 (1967?)... “I’m buy the new ****?!”
Wrap!-Map!-Brap!
Why I’m selling my ****?!”
“Today I’m wearing *****”
I’m sure this is just a phase
We know it's all veneer, I've met Tony from Gravelwood who's a great bloke, down to earth, and taken a look at the stock in his dealership. I saw a nice X5 at the turn of the year, and made it a goal to get shot of my Nissan and back into a BMW before the summer is out. That took some graft as I don't have a rich dad or trust fund or access to a great finance provider like a lot of these YouTubers do. A lot of kids watching these videos are from the something for nothing generation who may struggle to find a well paid job, let alone cash for a decent car.
I have great respect for Shmee150 as the content is very well put together, he is very candid, from the awful bash in the Senna by the Asda lorry on the M25, to the sheer disappointment of driving a Mercedes X250 and finding out it's just a Nissan in a posh frock even Sam, with Drive The World, which has been good to dip into now and then. A lot of this stuff has to be taken with a pinch of salt, I do like supercars, but also cars of yesteryear (HubNut thrashing a 2CV on the Autobahn up to the giddy heights of 64 was great )...
But I guess for them all, the format of churn, acquire, wrap, modify, sell before mileage and depreciation bites is the only way to keep new cars on their channels and the interest up for viewers. If they kept the same car a while like most of us, it wouldn't have the same appeal.
Hope Archie Hamilton doesn't get another SVR, probably with the same thirsty engine as his old one (sometimes they are just putting £20 of fuel in the tank), I think a Macan will suit him
SOL needs to drastically up his game. CBT motorbike training was an unexpected diversion, but it would save him more money than the Lamborghini Lose the Cupra / Seat Ateca which does nothing for the channel.
Monterey Car Week should show some decent cars, but there's plenty of other content to watch if the vloggers get too much
