Harry’s Garage, Jay Emm, and Mr JWW have filtered to the top, from what I can gather. Good content.

TGE video where everything was “chaos” and his whole demeanour seems unsympathetic. Having said that, I don’t know him, just what’s shown on camera. Have nothing against him, but I ended up with too many recommendations on YouTube to stomach. Perhaps he is a nice guy, hard to say.

SOL seems like a nice chap, but the comments on YT were pretty dire. I remember him from his AMG GT days. He has a Lambo? Financed I suppose? I don’t really care; I have nothing against financing cars. I’m happy for him and his Lambo. I meant I was sad for him in the video where he had a fiesta loaner for 48hrs and tried to make a vid from it. I’m sure he is a nice guy.

The people “winning” at this game rightly see that the cars are the product and not the people, and that the car spotting boom is on a downturn. All imo, obviously. I’ve no reason to think he would be sad for me; he won’t be watching my content. I’m more sad for him that he used to have quite a following and it seems to be waining.

I took to here rather than YouTube as this is a nice collection of the positive and negative of this “phenomenon “.

All good stuff and some lovely editing out there.

If comparing subscriber count only. If its on integrity, honesty, punctuality or watchability, you're leagues ahead of many.

TGE is extremely arrogant. Glad I’ve blocked him on YouTube now.

Just saw SOL collect his Ford Fiesta. I almost felt sorry for him.

Slowly the quality content is rising to the top; the cars are important, not the people, and this is why Carfection, CarWow etc are here to stay, whilst YouTubers Fall by the wayside...
Thanks for sharing that you blocked him, really interesting insight.

I am sure SOL feels sorry for you too. Considering he owns a lambo!
Rents.

I and many others could do the same tomorrow but most people have other priorities.

I don't understand this SOL bashing. He is a nice enough guy doing the best he can to keep up... how very British to keep knocking him when he's trying to build something by himself. He should be applauded.

Please don’t go there. There’s plenty of inane “you don’t own your house/car/lawnmower if there’s a whiff of credit” threads elsewhere biggrin

My apologies, it would be a crime to divert this thread away from the in-depth, well thought out, riveting discussion we have going on.

You can finance whatever you want... but it gets boring to watch. “Buying”, Wrapping, Selling... there’s no real ownership experience, which is exactly why I came to PH forums in the first place, and what I enjoy learning about, even if it’s a car I’d never buy.

As I said, it’s all good... but I don’t think it’s sustainable. Once the freebies die out, and the financing stops... what content is there? I’m not a teenager, so I need some real sustenance to my YouTube vids, not just dubsteppy music and “chaos”.

Agree. Jay–keep doing what you’re doing. The depth and honesty is exactly why my friends and I think your content is top notch. I’ve genuinely learnt things on your channel.

JWW? You are joking? He’s gone a bit too Gap Yah, especially on Instagram with his ‘distinctly above average day’ every day

Anyone noticed Sideways Sid is back with a video in the last couple of days, he’s rebranded to ‘Sid North’, looks like some of his videos have been deleted, can’t see the abandoned McLaren video anymore.

Shmee is obviously smashing it at the moment, but I find these videos reviewing the car collections of wealthy guys with no taste so boring. I’m sure he does them for a reason and they get good figures, but my god they are boring.

I’m thankful that these guys go to the time, effort and cost to make content for our entertainment.

If people don’t like certain Youtubers, you could always...oh I don’t know not watch their uploads.

Personally, I can’t get away with Shmee. I’ve no doubt he is a lovely guy, but the moment he announces “hi guys it’s Shmee” and gurns at the camera my heckles raise...it’s a big nope from me. It’s really easy though, I just don’t watch his videos. Clearly I’m in a minority, and the guy is obviously very passionate about what he does (and very successful) and I wish him and his channel well.

I’ve watched a few Arche Hamilton/TGE vids lately, and some of that is borderline for me. I like the individual personalities, but watching them turn up mob handed at a dealerships when one of them buys a car, one filming the other filming the other filming the other, the sales guys must think “not this st again” still, repeat business for them I suppose.

Jayemm is good, though I do wonder sometimes if his style of video is a bit mid 90’s Clarkson.

I have been enjoying the car guys recently. I think they strike a good balance of ownership experience and humour. It’s an easy watch.

I agree, I've switched off recently which is a shame as I find a lot of his content very good. I will admit I am a sucker for a garage update video, I love hearing about the current cars we've all come to know as well as future ones. I also switch off when he does the reviews of the cars from various tuners as well... no idea why but I get really bored really quickly with the exotica I can't relate with... either from rich American millionaires or from some back alley tuning company. Likewise I have really fallen for the SOL Lambo... its trials and tribulations and the mess he's got himself into with it! Poor guy.

As I've said many many times. Honest, down to earth 'proper' petrolheads will weedle out the ste and let the cream of the crop rise to the top.

Worth your precious time:

Harry
Henry
Monkey
James
Sam (sometimes)
Pistonheads
carwow (sometimes)
Petrol Ped (sometimes)
Autocar
Petrolicious
Smith & Sniff
Fully Charged
The Car Guys (sometimes)

Not worth the steam off your ****:

Everyone else.

End.

I've watched SOL for a year, and seen the content drop, value wise... he may own a Lamborghini (being repainted prior to sale?), but content jumps all over the place. Turning point for me was when he turned up at a dealership in Kent in a hired Nissan X Trail as it was cheaper to run than taking the Lamborghini round the M25 from Watford. Some occasional nice cars in the obvious collection of press cars and rentals blagged for a week or two.

I guess Fiestas may not seem to rank as a supercar to many, so don't know where his content is at as I unsubscribed a few weeks back. Car spotting has peaked, even the Daily Fail does car spotting each time the Arabs bring their Supercars to London each summer.

The other Youtubers seem to have more interesting content, Shmee and STG with their content from the States, and HubNut in New Zealand and Australia.

+1 I still watch his stuff. Some of it is, like everyone else's material, better than others but he comes across as decent and hard-working and most importantly for me, actually seems to be enjoying himself in his videos.

Sideways Sid seems to have renamed to Sid North, stopped drifting on the road, and put out a really good video on the C63.

It's OK - he needs to plug his mate despite it being mentioned 3/4 times already.

I used to like Sid until that whole mclaren pram episode.

My first ever post on here hello 😁

So my thoughts on some YouTubers this year are:

STG round the world trip got boring real quick

SOL absolute garbage channel now used to be good 4 years ago...

TGE and Archie you either love them or hate them I personally think they are great

Shmee’s tour of America has been great and really fits in with the US Lifestyle

Started watching more Hoovies Garage too and Doug De Muro

Tried to get back into watching Salomondrin but just can’t...

Carwow do good videos also

Supercar Blondie hit and miss
