My first ever post on here hello ??

So my thoughts on some YouTubers this year are:

STG round the world trip got boring real quick

SOL absolute garbage channel now used to be good 4 years ago...

TGE and Archie you either love them or hate them I personally think they are great

Shmee’s tour of America has been great and really fits in with the US Lifestyle

Started watching more Hoovies Garage too and Doug De Muro

Tried to get back into watching Salomondrin but just can’t...

Carwow do good videos also

Supercar Blondie hit and miss
Hi Tom, welcome back.

Sideways Sid seems to have renamed to Sid North, stopped drifting on the road, and put out a really good video on the C63.

Its exactly what he needed to do. Much more watchable - its got to the point where I cringe a bit watching dangerous/juvinile driving on the roads. The c63 video was great and the image/name change should give him much more longevity.

Collective thoughts on the Car Throttle channel? I know its part of a wider social media company, but I really enjoyed watching some of their stuff recently.

The 'Mega Spec' Merc for 990 quid was great content (I am a frequenter of the barge thread after all) and the cheap sports car thing.

Has a whiff of old top gear about it with the three of them doing these challenges, which is no bad thing IMO.

Voiceovers are sometimes grating, but it's humble fun compared to some of the popular loaned supercar channels. I much prefer it to SOL / STG etc.

When it's good, it's great, but when it's bad it's pretty terrible. Did anything happen to that Prelude that was getting K20 swapped?

I enjoy CarThrottle, it's good fun, harmless entertainment really.

If they continue to be successful, hopefully Alex will be able to afford treatment for his ongoing invisible lat syndrome.

I’m thankful that these guys go to the time, effort and cost to make content for our entertainment.

If people don’t like certain Youtubers, you could always...oh I don’t know not watch their uploads.

Personally, I can’t get away with Shmee. I’ve no doubt he is a lovely guy, but the moment he announces “hi guys it’s Shmee” and gurns at the camera my heckles raise...it’s a big nope from me. It’s really easy though, I just don’t watch his videos. Clearly I’m in a minority, and the guy is obviously very passionate about what he does (and very successful) and I wish him and his channel well.

I’ve watched a few Arche Hamilton/TGE vids lately, and some of that is borderline for me. I like the individual personalities, but watching them turn up mob handed at a dealerships when one of them buys a car, one filming the other filming the other filming the other, the sales guys must think “not this st again” still, repeat business for them I suppose.

Jayemm is good, though I do wonder sometimes if his style of video is a bit mid 90’s Clarkson.

I have been enjoying the car guys recently. I think they strike a good balance of ownership experience and humour. It’s an easy watch.
Errr.....

In fairness, most of the opinion resonate pretty closely with a lot of the comments ive seen here. (this thread is not full of the typical shmee lover)

The guy doing it and featured in the videos (HSUK) has been called out for selling fake products as genuine! He’s since disappeared off the face of the earth so I reckon that’s dead!

I watched Jay’s Tuscan review a few days ago. He straight up repeated a few Clarkson quotes/comments.

Perfect for all those sad old moaners in the Top Gear TV thread saying 'it's not like it used to be'.

Without my collection of Clarkson VHS tapes in the late 90s, I doubt I would be doing this now.

I do like to dish out the odd Clarksonism when appropriate. I'm going to get accused of copying Clarkson, whether I am or not.

I’m all for a bit of Clarkson. It’s better than “chaos” at a dealership when leasing your nth sports car with tweens everywhere. Just my opinion, obv.

You gave that TT a lot of praise today; I wanted a bit more negativity, but maybe it is that good...

I like how you aren’t pushing “luxury” goods like watches, sponsorship deals, useless stuff that I don’t want to sit through. Once someone starts ‘selling’ me something in a YT video, I’ll 9/10 close the video.

I did a BOTB video on Monday, that's likely to be the only real sponsor thing (barring my ongoing tie up with Pendle Lease) - one video out of 12 a month isn't bad. I don't like American channels in particular who peddle products that are entirely unrelated to cars. I'd feel disingenous selling a watch, I haven't worn one for nearly four years (got bored of the comments about where I wore my watch in early videos!)

The TT genuinely surprised me, I expected I would hate it. I do have a review coming out soon of an Audi which most definitely isn't positive, proof if it were needed that I won't praise a product that doesn't deserve it. Currently working hard to make the next two months fairly epic in terms of content - I have some amazing stuff lined up, really proud of what's coming to the channel

And let’s face it, it’s not Clarkson any harm.

I do feel compelled to ask, where was James wearing his watch?
