Not meaning to split hairs but if we're talking 991.2 there's no R (yet) & I've read stronger rumours of a 991.2 Sports Classic than an R, but you have everything else right.

I like the T but agree the marketing guff about it has been blown out of all proportion. Its just a bit lighter, bit louder and a bit sportier. That makes it a lovely car but its not enough to warrant the silly prices being asked.

I believe the Targas are all in order - as they're only 4 wheel drive; Targa 4, Targa 4S & Targa 4GTS

The Carrera T doesn't make sense with a £10k premium but I think it'll be a great second hand buy in a few years time (assuming it depreciates like a Carrera or Carrera S), particularly if it has the PCM & air con intact. Its as close to a Club Sport as I think we'll get on a 991.2 and both the 911 & 968 were under valued for years. People seem to be expecting a lower powered GT3, which it never was going to be.

I agree Porsche could have done more with the T and it isn't to the Carrera what the GTS is to the S (more than the parts bin special it in simple terms is). The Club Sports were under appreciated by the market for quite some time - I think the T will drop in value and say in 5 or 10 years time the market will realise that they are better value than a Carrera. I wasn't saying the T is in the same spirit as the CS, I was saying it was as close as Porsche will give us in a 991.2 - a cheaper, more basic Carrera would be great but maybe to close to a 718GTS.

This is mine as it arrived at the dealership off the transporter.

I have driven Porsches with leather for 14 years and fancied a change. I love the seats.

The people who have bought the T seem to like it very much - I bought it for what it is, not what some journalists and perhaps posters on here wanted it to be. It is not a 911 CS. It is not a GT3. Its not a stripped out track car.

As a road car, it is a very attractive package to me personally. For less than the price of a 3 year old GTS, Porsche have built me a new car to my personal specification and it comes with a great package of options to start with. Nice wheels, sports exhaust, limited slip diff, better gearchange, more noise, lowered sports suspension, it is an engaging and appealing driver's car that, whilst quick, can be enjoyed within reason on the road.

People mocked the 987 Spyder when it came out. Porsche know how to build a car that is better than the sum of its parts and I loved my Spyder which I owned for 4 years. Early indications are that the T is a real winner as it hits a real sweet spot.

Aren't they a special T only Sports Tech seat? And Sport Tech seats are a £2K+ option, but I understand they're not to everyone's taste.

I don't know the answer to that except they are not 18 way electrics for obvious reasons.
Not aware they are sport seats.

Rob sorry for insulting the basic seats frown just from pics don't think they are retro enough to look visually impressive. They look golf gti to me. Out of interest did you drive a Carrera S or GTS before ordering?

anyway back on topic. I wonder how many Speedsters will be made?

Thanks but not an issue - they are not the basic seats though, they came with the "T interior pack" - not that I fell for the marketing! I do genuinely like them.

I have driven a few 991.2s - S, 4S, GTS and turbo S. They all seem to suit PDK and make going very fast very easy. All great cars though.

I quite like the idea of having a manual gearbox again in a car intended to be used for pleasure more than work - the reduced soundproofing has gravel banging on the underside of the car like an RS - to my childish amusement and the irritation of my wife!

Cheers cmoose, I understand.

True story.

I once had lunch with Dr Wolfgang Porsche at Brands Hatch. I asked him, out of all his personal collection, which car would he choose to drive just for the fun of it on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

His answer - the 997 Speedster.

Er haven't you forgotten the 50th Anniversary, and when they write the book I'm sure the 1,000,000th will be there as an edition of 1. PCNA had a nice special anniversary edition and I think the European Porsche Club did too, and then there were those Martini jobs and the British Racing Legends ones. And maybe a Black edition or two. It's going to be a long book.

I’m feeling quite the misanthrope towards OPC dealer principals, and by association, PH.
Why bang on about the latest Porsche when it is obvious to all and sundry that unless you are an amateur proctologist to the DP you, and I, will never, ever be ‘allowed’ to purchase one?
Surprised there’s no link to 4StarClassics or KGF which seem to be another love-in with PH these days.
Unobtanium was mentioned by a previous poster, and I’d suggest that unless you exhale myrrh and pooh gold-leaf, unobtanium describes the whole car.
No doubt sold out way before it was officially announced to ‘collectors’ who are so far up said DPs chuff they can tickle his tonsils.
And as an aside, I prefer the proper, red Roadster pictured earlier on in the replies, it shows an owner with class. And who isn’t offering his 38-22-26 Russian wife as a sweetener for the deal either...
Sits back and waits for barbed comments...😜
