the T could have been a standard car and porsche could have just added the badge and lied about the changes - porsche fans would still claim to be able to tell the difference imo

... I prefer the proper, red Roadster pictured earlier on in the replies, it shows an owner with class.
Define what 'proper' is please?

The new car is made by Porsche too so that fact that it is new doesn't make it any less 'proper'. The old 930 Speedster was a rare (2,104 or so manufactured) car that was not bought by many and sold, particularly in the US and in typical Porsche fashion, loaded with extras to wring as much money out of buyers as possible; the new one won't be available to be bought by many either so you just sound sour to me personally.

Porsche sure know how to get the most out of a model don't they! Their 991 911's so far! (I think that's all of them?)

Not meaning to split hairs but if we're talking 991.2 there's no R (yet) & I've read stronger rumours of a 991.2 Sports Classic than an R, but you have everything else right.

Er haven't you forgotten the 50th Anniversary, and when they write the book I'm sure the 1,000,000th will be there as an edition of 1. PCNA had a nice special anniversary edition and I think the European Porsche Club did too, and then there were those Martini jobs and the British Racing Legends ones. And maybe a Black edition or two. It's going to be a long book.
That's all true off course. But if you make a list of every Peugeot 308, VW Golf or whatever, with every engine option, body type possibility and available trim-levels (not to mention special action models during a models life span), you would get an even longer list surely? The 911 is a complete line, not just 1 single model. Porsche gives the choice, as does every other manufacturer. Be happy about that.

My old (proper) 911 Speedster .....

What a lovely car your red Speedster is! Wonderful. New one is looking good too. When it appears in production spec rather than murdered out black on a beaten up prototype, I suspect the naysayers will think it is quite the item.
