I bought the Leon nearly new & saved £10k on list, for a 10 month old ex-SEAT UK car with only 4K on the clock - but this was the sensible car to buy, isn't man maths justifying buying the car that common sense say you shouldn't buy (too impracticable or potentially ruinous or both)?
That sounds like a decent purchase! Well you're quite right, but clearly your judgement got the better of you on this occasion I'd be telling myself the hypothetical £10K saved could be put to use on something less sensible...It is a decent purchase - particularly as it had the 18” wheels, auto lights & wipers plus park pilot.
Call it nearer £5k I saved - it went on under floor heating for the new kitchen.
If the Megane is as good as sold to a friend - have you got first refusal if they sell it?

If you're in the market I'd suggest keeping an eye on the for sale threads on RSMegane.com
Or indeed, PH's very own car buying site, eh? Butter Face said:
Are those ZZR tyres decent then? Never looked at them before. Will need to replace my Goodyear eagle F1 Asymetric 3’s soon.
They are a very different proposition compared to the F1. The ZZR is a road legal semi-slick that will give you a lot of grip at the expense of longevity, comfort, noise and ability to cope with standing water. If you track the car regularly they make sense, if you don't, not so much.Edited by nickfrog on Saturday 14th April 20:26

So both the Meg and the TT are similar in power, weight, manual box, turbocharging and even the PP's, are they anywhere similar to drive?
Not at all really, dynamically the TT was pretty dull out of the box. Numb steering, lots of understeer (although there are mods to help dial that out) and horrendous brakes. Mostly things that can be treated, but nothing like the Megane really which as you said, would leave it for dead. Still, I loved the way it looked, was very comfortable and made a great noise with the custom BCS/Powervalve exhaust it had on it.BAZ_C said:
That is a fookin beaut!!! Any chance of a full list of the upgrades and who did what?
Thank you! I'll get a list together to post up. If you've got anything specific you'd like to know though, feel free to drop me a PM.blearyeyedboy said:

Ha well obviously the PH classifieds are a great place to look, although the RSMegane forum does generally have more modified cars for sale, if that's what you're looking for.RSTT said:
Looks like you stuck with the H&R springs and didn’t get tempted into coilovers. Do you wish you’d tried some coilovers or have the springs been good enough?
Nope, there has never been a single point where I've felt that I'd be better off with coilovers. The damping and ride with the H&R springs is simply superb and spot on for mostly road driving with a bit of track use. I think the only time I'd consider coilovers for a 250 would be if it was a dedicated track car.Butter Face said:

What Nick said really! They're incredible tyres for track use, but I wouldn't want to use them on the road. They're quite a soft compound so would probably wear out very quickly with every day road use. If you've got a separate set of track wheels though, I can't recommend them enough.roadie said:
I don't suppose the H&R springs more supple/comfortable than the stock Cup setup?
I didn't notice a huge difference in stiffness to be honest, perhaps slightly stiffer but it's still a comfortable ride on the road and certainly less crashy than the stock suspension on my old R26. They reduced roll in the corners too, so it's much more planted. Thoroughly recommend them!Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
