Have seen a couple, and absolutely love them. But only in coupe form! Didn’t Wayne Rooney have one?

Also, I thought the engine was transplanted from the SLR, with only minor changes? It seemed something of a bargain in comparison when new

I was replying to the question above my post.

That's what a thread is. Replying to other posts.

Would be helpful if you learnt to read.

Split rims? Wide arches? Buckets? A big wing? Lashings of carbon? Trick suspension?
Perhaps this is where the whole stance / scene thing started!?

Chuffing marvelous things these.

Imagine the overwhelming disappointment every time you changed gear with that 'box.
Agreed however with that much torque and only 5 cogs, I doubt you’ll be changing gear a lot!

Just leave it in second you’ll be fine hehe

Love these things, I was fortunate enough to get one up to top speed when I worked for Mercedes-Benz in Bahrain. Unforgettable experience and a great car, a tad more special than the Black Series IMO too.

I think the 'regular' Black is a bit prettier - this has a slightly tarty air to it but still - if you like that sort of thing - go for it.

Money is silly but it's hardly worth saying that now - there are people who'll pay it so - again - go for it.

My favourite AMG, just mental.
I’ve had a few drives in a convertible version and it’s an incredible car, the engine is a masterpiece.
As for the gearbox, it strangely suits the car and I don’t think there was a better option.

Matt Farah said something about Chris Harris having paid a silly sum to remap the gearbox in his 'Black' - having done all the hard work once, you'd assume whoever did it will able to repeat the trick for rather less??

The thing which absolutely dates 'paddle' cars is the shift quality/speed - some of the really early examples (355 F1 automated manual nonsense) are borderline unusable (and expensive to fix!) and even more recent cars feel odd because it's gotten SO much slicker.

One day it might even make sense to have it in a road car - maybe - but probably not.

At the complete opposite end of the spectrum, the early CLK55's make a special car for not a lot of money https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Completely bonkers - I love it!

I've only ever seen one - and that lives in Mercedes Benz world!

Probably a decent car but looks-wise I think that pales in comparison.

Given that there are only 40 RHD cars it's amazing that there appear to be two other black Coupes for sale, all three cars with circa 7k miles:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

This one for auction:
https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/2005-mercedes-...

They might be the same cars perhaps? Either way, bottom estimate of £180k makes the Romans car look toppy at £275k.

The same auction also has a Black Series - in fact much rarer in UK RHD form (one of 25 supplied and would be my preference):
https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/2008-mercedes-...

Last one to sell at auction (LHD) was for £225k:

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/22725/lot/309/

Investors bailing out perhaps?

There's always a couple of DTM's for sale so nothing new here.

Black Series you see less up for sale in RHD form for some reason.

They made 31 Blacks in UK spec RHD, Mercedes at MK confirmed this to me last year.
