The problem is it just smacks of badge-engineering. If it had a Lambo V12 or even V10 in it at least it would be more authentic and a key differentiator from the rest of the VAG.

Looks like a honda civic on 'roids.. To whoever thinks this is good looking, what are you smoking? must be epic...

Just remember folks, all that matters is the badge - Don't worry if you look like an old fool trying to hard!

So, so fussy and over styled.
Saying only people who cant afford are slating it is a massive over simplification.
I'm sure it will sell, but mainly to those with lots of money but near zero taste / hired out for weddings etc.
That sounds like an even worse over simplification to me.
Time will tell nickfrog, time will tell.

You've got to laugh. So far on this thread the Urus has been compared to (in one way or another)

Pontiac Aztec
Ssanyong Rodius
Citroen Ami (I think that's what the pic was)
Audi Q7
Rover Vitesse
Honda Civic
a stting dog
a toad

Some of the terms used to describe it include vile, hateful, steaming pile of st, ugly, awful, sad, bad, rubbish, tiny dick, makes me vomit, ghastly, waste of time, abhorrent, hideous, crap, abomination, POS, fking ste, and makes me die inside.

I thought I was just buying a Lamborghini SUV but apparently I'll actually be driving the automotive equivalent of Myra Hindley. I could be waiting ages for someone to let me out at junctions!

It's a Lamborghini SUV...why wouldn't I want one?! I'm sure it will put a smile on my face, but if it turns out to be crap then it's not the end of the world.

It's the Porsche model, get the suckers to buy the suvs,. I wouldn't be surprised a model below the Uranus, maybe even a diesel engine. People buy brands nowadays not actual cars.
It's almost as if eventually all marques will make all the vehicles in all the sectors, they'll just be priced according tot heir perceived status...

SUV Dacia...all the way to SUV Rolls
Dacia supercar...all the way to Lambo supercar
or whatever...
character and any idea of 'uniqueness' has buggered off to be replaced by brand snobbery and profit.
c'est la vie....
I disagree; character and uniqueness exist BECAUSE so many manufacturers build their interpretation of a car segment, not despite it. How bland would SUVs be if only one company built them?
vive la différence...
Where did I say only one company can make a particular sector? taking my point to the extreme and disagreeing with that I can understand.
But that's not what I said...
The reality of every marque making every sector of car, is closer to the reality of every marque making one sector of car
So as and when you can get an SUV or supercar in any flavour you want, what makes them different? the cost...the status...

And these aren't unique creations, they're variations on a shared platform with shared powertrains etc etc.
There is no one on this earth who can convince me that actual character differentiates a Toureg, from a Q7, from a Cayenne, form a Bentayga, from a Urus.... its superficial fluff and guff that differentiates them, the perceived value of dribbling on and on about the quality and colour of your stitching..

Perhaps, threads about Dacias should be limited to Dacia owners and threads about Lamborghinis restricted to Lambo owners... that way everyone's fragile egos wouldn't be so damaged by opinions they don't have to read hehe

That'd be a shame though as personally whilst I've no interest in reading about Dacias, I do enjoy reading about a purposely engineered, and beautifully designed product, and posting positive comments..... more than maligning guff like the Urus.... its just that the Urus deserves maligning so very very much.

Exactly. The only reason this isn’t coming fully-built off the same line in Bratislava as the Q7/Cayenne/Touareg is that the Italian government waved a load of cash under VW’s nose to bolt the bits on in Italy.

I never understand folk who buy something just because of its badge. But I guess you can sell it if you dont like it.

I can't think of many cars I'd be less inclined to let out of a junction. A black-on-black Humvee, perhaps.

Each to their own and all that, but opinion seems against you. It is awfully hideous looking and very, very pointless. And surely very pointless things should at least look nice?

If you want a Lambo, buy a Lambo not an Audi. Small boys will point and smile. Larger boys will point and smile.

If you want a big, fast, loud 10mpg middle-finger-to-the-world SUV then I cannot see why you'd pick this over a Bentayga or a RR SVR (or a Q7, for that matter). Or an Alfa Stelvio Q, which will likely be better at going around corners (although obviously is a bit smaller). All are pretty brash and loud, yet infinitely more elegant than a Urus.

Fast, expensive SUVs are pointless things anyway. They never actually go off-road and they're no good on-road compared to an actual car. Why don't you just get an E63 AMG estate, or an S600 Brabus, or whatever, and be done? Buy a proper sports car with the change. People would certainly think you have more taste that way.

All that said, I hope you're pleased with and enjoy it, given the chunk of change you've obviously decided to part with. Just because we all think you're doing something insane with your hard-earned obviously doesn't give anyone the right to tell you anything different. It is UGLY though. :-P

Think that’s a reflection of how cynical the industry is. I like pointless cars - LM002, awesome; Uterus, not so.

Oh look, "sad day" from yet another person who won't ever get their wallet out in a lambo showroom.

Has there been any actual Lambo owners saying they dont want this car released? I don't recall seeing any.
OK then, I'll chip in. I own a Performante, and have been to the Lamborghini factory twice in the last month.

I [i]do/i] think Lamborghini has sold their soul. In fact, Lamborghini personnel I spoke to are really upset they are using a forced induction engine, let alone building an SUV. That feeling doesn't seem to be offset by the fact they are effectively doubling the workforce; I guess they have jobs already so don't really care!

I agree with others in that this looks like a current Lamborghini they've then stretched and pulled to fit as an SUV, and looks ridiculous as a result. I don't need an SUV to look like a supercar; I'll happily just take a supercar and a 4x4.

It's somewhat telling that my friends who think the Urus is great are the same ones who whiten their teeth and talk about watches a lot. They are in it for the image; the status. They want to spend at least £60,000 more on this than a Cayenne Turbo to demonstrate they can afford it, not because this sets some kind of benchmark or they want to feel like they're driving a supercar whilst ferrying the kids about.

If someone tells me the SUV is required for Lamborghini to exist, then fair enough. Until then, for Christ's sake, can manufacturers stop being so obsessed with filling every niche possible? Lamborghini make supercars! This car cheapens the brand for me, and that will only continue as I start to see these all too commonly on British roads, driven by fat turds who can't fit in a regular Lambo.

Here, here!!! Same goes with Porsche, Masarati, even Alfa Romeo. With accountants running these businesses for the benefit of shareholders it can't be any other way.

When I was young, Lambourghini and perhaps Aston Martin more so, were only bought by the super rich - rocks stars etc. Now, because they build them cheaper they can sell them cheaper and finance is available to anyone, any half decent Salesman (sorry, Account Executive) can have one. Having an Aston Martin these days has all the cachet of a sofa from Ikea - every fkers got one laugh It'll be the same too with Lambo, if it's not already.
