There do just seem to be more tw*ts around these days who will take the pee and have no manners.
I think technology has made it easier for them, they probably always existed just most of them wouldn't be so rude if they were talking to somebody rather than messaging etc.
yes

Not helped by :-

=> The amount of "private traders" out there who want to hoover up a bargain at a knock down price
=> Bargain hunter type TV programmes where people are led to believe that no matter how well priced / cheap something is, you should bid low (not realising they just piss some people off and can come across as a time waster)
=> Peoples sense of entitlement whereby of course you'll sell it at their price - its for THEM after all.

OP would need to invest in some pointy shoes, thin ties and an ill-fitting suit first. And develop some ste patter.

I didn't have any offers mentioned

I had a set price that was considerable higher

Perhaps I missed something though

If you haven't invoked the 'Make an offer' feature then no, it won't be this.

Maybe it's someone using two phones/SIMs and making two offers to try and convince you to take the higher one - even though it's a lot less than what you want!

Ive just sold my F10 M5.

What an absolute fking nightmare dealing with the bellends.

Text messages included..

"Best price"? (that's the full message)
"Would you take £20k"? (it was up for £27995 at the time)
"What colour"? (again, full message) on the advert were 20 pics clearly showing the colour.

It was a world of pain.

Try sellIng an old e60 535d, attracts all sorts of bellends as it sits in the price point where the local badmans can afford them.

On eBay, when you make an offer it sends the seller a nice email saying "Dave has made on offer on your spanner for £450"
On Gumtree, when you make an offer it sends the seller an email with the subject "reply to your ad "spanner'", and a body of "450". Which makes you look just like the kind of spanner that always comes up in these threads...

I see a lot of yoofs driving them these days. Remapping them and slamming them seems to be a "scene".

Gumtree is not worth it. Although i was lucky to find my car on there. Selling my car though... just a bunch of chancers.

AutoTrader was better.

I think maybe it's more of an issue when selling a nice car. I've just sold my old CR-V - advert went up on Saturday night, was gone by 5pm on Sunday to a nice lady who wanted a "dog car" (i.e. for carrying four border collies round in, although the description might have suited the car too). No haggling on price, my easiest selling experience ever.

I have always put in my adverts that text messages and emails will be ignored .
Also put no offers .
I have also put the car back in the garage and walked away if they make stupid offers or try to pull it to pieces claiming faults or damage .

Did a part ex in the end as it is quite difficult. However, the garage in question had the car we wanted, and they were hard enough to find.

My favourite was selling my Touran, advertised at £3800, looking for around £3500.

I never understand this?

Why would you want to put off a potential customer?

The last 20 cars I have purchased over the last 10 years or so have all been purchased by starting off with a quick text or email.
Nice to make contact without having to listen to a sellers waffle for ages on the phone.

I reckon 99% if the cars I have sold have also been through contact via text and email too.

I also haven't had a problem selling cars either.

Last one was my ML, sold 2 weeks ago, put the advert up on the Monday and sold by the Thursday with 3 others waiting to see if this guy was having it.

I bought another 530d Touring from Carlians and it was all done via email. It was quick, easy and meant I could get the info I needed while at work, where making loads of calls is tricky.

Bloody hell. It's like they almost made an effort. (Given that the texts were virtually identical.)

This isn't isolated to cars I have had the misfortune to sell PCs on craigslist

You get the normal - Final price and whats the best price etc and the people who can't read the Add,,

But I have been getting people who want it for free .. please donate to such and such in the past months

Dont think you get that with cars though
