Its not a fvcking Robin Reliant, Its a fvcking RELIANT ROBIN.
No one ever says Regal Reliant or Scimitar Reliant, so why do people say Robin Reliant?Back on topic though, I remember I replied to a similar thread about 5 years ago with Citroen Visa and 3 people replied saying they saw them regularly. Well, I still haven't seen a single one in the subsequent 5 years.

Average life of a car in the U.K. being scrapped is 13.9 years according to the SMMT.
So according to that, anything pre 2004 is either doing well, or a bad mot away from it’s final journey.
Blimey...So according to that, anything pre 2004 is either doing well, or a bad mot away from it’s final journey.
On Saturday I sold my Mk1 MX5...that was a 1997 car and is in pretty good condition...
I still have (taxed and on the road) a 1987 E30 M3 and a 2001 E46 330i Touring...which I was going to sell (seeing as it has done over 250,000 miles now), but have realised it is ULEZ compliant (being Euro 4 petrol), so have decided to keep it...
Neither are "a bad mot away from it’s final journey" as I've spent a fair amount, recently, on keeping the E46 roadworthy...

French and Italian stuff seem to disappear incredibly fast. Cant remember the last time I saw a Fiat Punto, Peugeot 206, Renault Megane mk2, Alfa Romeo 147, Citroen C2 etc especially considering how abundant they were when they first came out.
I'll give you punto, 147 and C2, but I see 206s and mk2 meganes all the bloody time, 206 especiallyMeridius said:

I have an 07 Megane Mk2, still loads of these on the roads. They don't seem to rust so I can only assume people scrap them due to dodgy electrics or engine failure.I scrapped a 2000 Ford Cougar for a pair of tyres, an ABS ring and 10p hole in the sill about 7 or 8 years ago, just could not be bothered. Saw one at the weekend, first one I have seen in ages.
Most cars are only worth £1k once they get to ten years old, you can see why they get scrapped so easily. Clutch for a Mondeo costs more than the car is worth.
Anything pre-51 plate really. Purposefully looked for them on my commute, and in nearly 60 miles I saw a mk.2 Micra, a very clean 306, a 406 and an Astra that was such a complete shed and driven so badly I would be amazed if it or the driver were remotely road legal. For absolutely no rational reason, I do feel oddly sad about how the days of Escorts or Sierras on every street corner have gone forever, never to return. Once a building is completed it doesn't tend to change that much from one decade to the next, so the cars on the street are perhaps the most obvious example of the passage of time.
Early 2000s I remember seeing, what I thought at the time, dull 90s Escorts, Primeras, Volvos, Hondas, anything relatively common.
If I knew nearly two decades later that we would be seeing the hideous blobs we get now and wishing to see those 'dull' cars again I'd have told you were mad! Bloody Jukes, Ecosports, Kadjars.
..Jesus.

A friend bought a white one new and loved it!
But they along with the Xantia ( love these ) and the AX and the BX ( loved my J reg 1.7 TD ) have sadly disappeared.
The missus had a BX when I first met her, 20 years ago-ish, not the most reliable and had an engine rebuild at some point in the past but I admit it was fun to drive while it lasted. But they along with the Xantia ( love these ) and the AX and the BX ( loved my J reg 1.7 TD ) have sadly disappeared.
