I live in derby which is a crap town and most people are driving round in new cars. Some very expensive ones at that

I bought a Rover 45 at new year, as daily to keep my VXR off the road.
Ironically its great fun so has now become my project car - going out tomorrow to swap in some MGTF cams and fit a kmaps ECU!
Is it a 2004 facelift one? I heard the later ones changed to sharing the suspension of the ZS as a cost saving measure, and those drive brilliantly.Ironically its great fun so has now become my project car - going out tomorrow to swap in some MGTF cams and fit a kmaps ECU!

20 years ago my mum had a 1.6 MK2 Rover 400, which I drove a fair bit. To this day, I maintain that from a handling perspective it's one of the most criminally underrated cars out there. It was set up for a comfortable ride, meaning the chosen springs produced comical levels of body roll when pressing on hard. However, it had a beautifully balanced chassis and is one of the most neutral FWD cars I've ever driven. The limit handling was more predictable and progressive than the much vaunted MK1 Focus that replaced it, while having a superior ride.
People mistook the body roll and soft suspension for poor handling though .
