I like that a lot Gavia, and (like many others I suspect) could not agree more with your sentiments
Absolutely. It's clear and concise and sums up what everyone is thinking.

It's also attached to a real bike, not someone's imaginary car.

The Radical was stunning the grip when you got some speed up was amazing the he was having traction issues (he put this down to old tyres) but it was a nice opener to how much aero helps grip wise.

that is some trip you are having ! enjoy the rest of it,the footage i have watched so far is scaring the st out of me,they really are not messing about this year. i hope harrison wins one after that epic standing start lap record. i would also like some coverage a bit further down the field, the lads funding themselves year after year put a huge effort in just to be there.

Calling custard / cock drawing on this as according to the experts on here a car such as that could not possibly travel round the IOM let alone go fast enough for downforce to take effect without the car crumbling to pieces.
Did you go over the humpback bridge? If not could you get him to do it just to see if it would end up beached or loosing all it’s wheels and bodywork in the process hehe

The adjustable suspension was jacked up to the max, so no issues there. Only an F1 car would probably get beached or disintegrate on that one jump. A GT3 RS with standard suspension has already proven that it will struggle round the TT course, ditto a Huracan all whilst chasing bikes straight out of a showroom.

That was a nasty crash (I've just found the photos online). Ripped the engine off the gearbox and out of the car but the main occupant part of the monocoque stayed intact.

Looks like he ran wide and up an embankment. But, so many unknowns of course, not least the standard of the driver.

I’ve heard loads talking about it, but not seen the photos, any clue as to where they are please?

Formula cars have a surprising ride height look at all the clear air under that...

and they are perfectly capable of taking a small bump if they had to, lets face it, it would be so much quicker everywhere else that it could slow to a crawl over the bridge and do a 3 point turn around the hairpin at the end of the lap and still be a minute up on the bikes. even if it bottomed out over the bridge they are designed for just that situation with the plank in place so it would just scrape and carry on like nothing happened, not sure why in your version the car has to launch itself 3 feet in the air?

F1 car not disintegrating over a bump...

I don't know how you can infer that just because a car has crashed on the course that the car can not cope same logic would also dictate that an F1 car cant manage Silverstone. Porsche and Lambo were probably going slower than Mark in the original near standard Subaru when they binned it. Lets face it plenty of bikes crash there too! with even worse consequences as demonstrated the other day.

F1 car doing a spot of off roading, not the smoothest surface in the world and notice the camera shaking bumps and nothing falling off the car. And If I counted the gears right that's 150mph+

The point is that an F1 car isn’t a car that anyone can just go into any dealers and buy and then run on the road. It’s not in anyway comparable to the bikes run at the TT.

I’m pretty sure we’ve done this story to death already. The reality is that the bikes are there and having fun. Some amateurs had a run on bike and car and the cars came off worst. Ironically the car that came off the worst is exactly the car that our now departed fantasist was claiming would take on allcomers and win comfortably, even in his amateur hands. I think current circumstance would disprove that.

biglaugh He had already smashed his front splitter a fair bit & despite being raised he was hitting the ground on a fair few occasions he said he had had a spring change & they were to soft.

I don't know about the bridge as I met him at Ramsey but the suspension was getting caught out (this was a setup issue) but I still enjoyed it.

He's been waxing lyrical how we are all terrible drivers with terrible drivers cars, which is ironic as my (and my insurance company's) measure of a good driver is not putting your car upside down on its roof in a farmer's field.

I doubt his mum would let him go to the IOM.

It seems av has been blocked from further contribution here... I'm not sure why but I suspect he may have something meaningful to say to Gavia.... wink

I take no sides here, as a car & bike enthusiast I simply enjoy the banter... I think you're all brilliant, its not normal on PH for a thread to last so long without getting wrongly personal... which I don't think this one has...

I'm going to start a new thread on GG so the banter might continue....

Do shoot me down if you have to....

Why’s he been banned from here? He’s not done anything wrong as far as I’m concerned and I was the one who was on the receiving end of most his Banter and vice versa. He’s certainly not said anything I haven’t in return.
