Remember when I was a kid and the Citroen CX had just come out which meant the DS was old hat.

An ex French ministerial DS23 Pallas with all the extras and black leather interior came up for sale and my dad was smitten, so was I.

"Get it, dad, get it!" cool

My mum was adamant that there was only ever going to be one black car she was ever going in, arguments ensued and we never got the cool DS. The power of women.

Anyway, you did well not going for that rubber bumpered GT, save up more and get a decent early one with chrome bumpers, leather and wires. smile

When you need to know how best to furnish that ex local authority bedsit down the line you will find all your brethren in the Lounge section. You'll just to search 'MGTOW' to find all the useful posts. wink
I've literally no idea what any of what you just said means....
Of course. It’s only been a few days. It takes some people a lot longer to work out the basics.

Shiny looking but fairy dull to drive Fiesta?

If your budget is £1,000 go for a Puma 1.7.

If you can stretch a little bit more, go for a Clio 172 or 182.

All very usable everyday cars and all a lot more fun than that Fiesta and wont rape your wallet like the MGB. Oh and wont depreciate either. smile

And we're back to unreadable gibberish.

This is really quite simple.

You say to her:

Darling, this is the way it will be!

No further discussion will be required.

Trust me!

Quoted for prosperity right there lol
One downside of getting older I've found is that birthdays are no longer about what people buy you: they are about what you are allowed to buy yourself.

I managed to acquire a Street Triple for my 40th, but think I might have to wait until 50 before getting a non sensible car.

Can't see the point of doing something behind the back of my wife though..just doesn't seem a very sensible way to work.

My thoughts are (assuming it starts and runs well) then the engine bay isnt your biggest concern about an MGB - has anyone mentioned rust yet? wink

Although the condition of it doesnt bode terribly well for the rest of the car

I have to look at rest of the car to see how good or bad body work is. But the seller already mentioned some of it needs repainting so depends how badly rusted it is. Looks like a lot of new parts in that engine bay

My solution to this kind of problem was to change my wife until I got one interested in cars. She has just bought herself a yellow 2011 Camaro. We go stage rally-driving next Friday in Wales. Subarus I believe.

More because what you said has absolutely no relevance. Why are you banging on about ex local authority bedsits...

Sounds like you have a problem that goes well beyond whether or not to buy a rusty old MGB. Does she give you pocket money every week?
