Bonkers money for something built on the M111-derived platform.
For that sort of money you can nearly be off up the road in a 530 bhp British twin-turbo V8 with a carbon tub (McLaren 540) that's 20 years newer, just as quick and a whole lot less cramped.Time Lotus brought out a genuinely new car.

And we all know how the Woking boys take the "think of a number and triple it" approach to (must have) option prices...
As for driving, I expect the Exige to be the more fun proposition.

Think only real competition is a Cayman GT4 but it is dull in comparison. So no idea what a genuine rival to the Lotus is to be honest.
It does not have a rival.I have been waiting for this car for 10 years lol or a car Lotus make I want.
This is a car I want and expected Lotus to make, so I am going to buy it :-)
no nayslaying Lotus from me on this model, you can all sit down.

It's a niche car. Even if they cut the price, the market for it is always going to be small. There's no direct competition. If you want something like this, that's what it costs. I suspect that they have worked out that they would sell barely any more of them if they cut their margin.

god, they desperately need a new platform .... i wish them well but i think JMG is going to hit the wall on UK sales on this ticket price for exige and evora.
Why do they need a new Elise or Exige platform. Do you mean bigger with easier entry? If so wouldn't that be the Evora?Macboy said:

Great stuff! What spec are you thinking? Personally I think just the A frame and that's about it. Sub £90k and you have a proper do-it-all trackday car. Bargain.
£90k Lotus Exige = Bargain. I am officially old. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
