If this is the "ultimate road going exige", then it's presumably the last.

Not quite. They had a new car development budget and bet the whole lot on a mid-engine 2+2 styled by a blind man and expanded their factory to build it in record numbers. I mean, why? Had Lotus ever sold a car like that before? No. Were customers clamouring for that sort of car? No. Has any manufacturer ever sold a mid-engine 2+2 successfully? No.

Hence we now have ancient Exige tubs at inflated prices with a Camry V6 in the back. Next special edition due later this week...
They didn't expand the factory to build the Evora, that was a Bahar era folly to build the new range that never materialised.

I just notice that according to PH it's the "Ulimate" edition, so that joke falls flat.

These threads are always funny to read.

Why on earth can 'enthusiasts' know this is not the same Exige from over a decade ago? I mean, do you not pay any attention?

Then someone comes along and is confused why someone wouldn't get a 540c instead. It's 40 grand more, at least.

FORTY THOUSAND POUNDS.

Christ. Would love to know how many of the people throwing the cynical, negative comments have seen one in the flesh, sat in one, or god forbid driven one.

Unfortunately it's built in Woking and called a McLaren. If Lotus try to compete with that they'll get eaten alive.

Because fat middle aged men can't pretend they are an F1 driver in an Esprit.

Really ?

On the basis that F1 fans of that age will be very familiar with the iconic JPS and Camel liveries of yesteryear I suspect there’s every chance.

Either that or we’ll all be driving off piers pretending our wives look like Barbara Bach I imagine.
