RE: Shed of the week: Land Rover Discovery V8
Discussion
I bought one of these, a V8, recently for half shed money with an MOT until September, with the express intention of eviscerating it for the drivetrain and scrapping the rest. It runs and drives very nicely, so much so that I contemplated (via a thread on here) whether I should kill it or save it and sell it on. But in the course of making my decision, I've found rot in places you'd never generally look. I didn't check it for rot before I bought it, just that it ran & drove OK as that was all I needed, but when you start removing parts of the dash and find big rotten patches behind the dash, on the bulkhead, you know it's too far gone.
People have suggested that decent D1s are becoming rarer and prices will start to climb as a result. Hmmm. Anyway, this isn't a decent one.
The nice big waffly engine and box will live on though!

Don't forget that discos are Defenders with more comfortable accoutrements. Strange that a lot of people hate them yet they love defenders
Not Defender. They are Range Rovers underneath the skin. It’s the car that essentially created the luxury SUV as it allowed the Classic to break away from needing to be suitable for agricultural uses and focus on being for luxury needs.
