I'm not entirely sure how this differs from a V12 Vantage S with the AMR Pack - other than the carbon panels? and presumably a 400k+ pricetag?

I pity anyone who is trying to write the definitive story of AM. Books must be going out of date quicker than they can be printed. New model announcements every week. This though is a beauty.

A bit more to it than just a power increase.
If its anything like the GT12 then the extra width and drag will make it slower than the standard car, let alone one in 595bhp trim.
Hmm. I can see how increased width and drag would cost a few mph at the top end. But the benefit of more power should more than make up for it with better acceleration when not traveling at hyper-warp speed. And if the carbon fibre does it’s job, reduced mass should also provide performance improvements more relevant than how for beyond 200mph it can reach.

I am really surprised at the "Khan" and "trying to hard add ons" points .
This car has barely no add ons . If you look , there are no vents , wings , splitters , huge diffusers , contrast colours , in fact there aren’t even any side skirts ! We even removed the bonnet vents and replaced them with discrete holes .
It’s the old sleek Vantage but a wide body , smoothed out with as little add ons as possible . We even removed as many shut lines as possible .
The only "out there" detail is the AMR style grill shape with a unique finish to the actual grill and you can finish this as discretely as you wish .

You can’t post the standard PH response about any special car though without refusing to look at the article or pictures and just instantly making your mind up you don’t like it hehe

I think the GT12 got a shorter final drive to improve acceleration (3.5s to 60mph for the GT12 vs. 3.7s for the V12VS in 565bhp trim), at the expense of top-speed - down from 205mph to 185mph. I guess the V600 will run the standard final drive.

The extra power is all RIGHT at the top end, moves peak power from 565bhp @ 6750rpm to 595bhp @ 7000rpm at the rev limiter, so its pretty hard to actually use all of it without smacking into the limiter and losing time anyway. I guess using launch control and letting it shift automatically might see the difference, but real world (and when you have to pay for the clutch) you're never going to see the difference.

Track is wider I think, from GT12, meaning that mechanically, this is a GT12 with less aero and a manual box (GT12 was only flappy paddle) whilst V12AMR as standard (or V12S with powerpack) are effectively narrow bodied GT12 with either transmission available

The price ...... not even close :-)

More?!

I'll keep my V12 Vantage S with the AMR kit.

I think we’re talking a couple of GT12s, a GT8, and a mint V12 S AMR for starters. Then if you want one without the roof ....

Interesting, so the magnesium intake manifolds are manufactured by Ilmor (I think Daimler-Benz owns Ilmor).
The original Ilmor company was bought by Daimler-Chrysler (as they were at the time) and is now known as Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains. This is the company that still builds all the Mercedes F1 engines in Brixworth.

Mario Illien now runs a totally separate, independent company called Ilmor Engineering Ltd, which specialised in developing engines for Indycar and MotoGP, amongst other things.

well and truly the last NA V12 manual!
This gets stated every time AM bring out another N/A V12 with stick shift - and other manufacturers too. One hell of a swansong!

It's a shame regardless that sports / super car showrooms are not awash with such glorious powerplants anymore.

We've said this three times already. Shame they wont shoehorn it in to the new car, and unlikely the 'supercar' they're planning.

So what ballpark are we actually talking here?
Someone has just suggested the combined value of circa 4 other AM cars. Take that figure and double it (approximately)

Hah, I'm not sure we're really talking about £2m, are we? A few hundred k I'd imagine is more appropriate.

I agree with you! I can't help that they're being inappropriate though
